Going to be tough to watch

The Chicago Cubs hold the dubious distinction of being the Major League Baseball team with the longest drought (nearly 100 years!) without a World Series ring. This one-hour film traces the ups and many downs of the venerable franchise and the mystical appeal they hold over their long-suffering, but dedicated fans. Rare footage, archival photos and revealing interviews provide the background for this look at the lives of die-hard Cubs fans who have shown their devotion through many tough seasons, from the Miracle Mets in 1969 and the Padres' stirring comeback in 1984 to the infamous heartbreak of a spectator's foul-ball deflection in 2003.
After this year the streak should reach 100+ years.

Reliving 2003 will be tough.

It's on tonite at 9/8c There is a list when showtimes are on the link.

They won their last championship in 1908. You'll have to wait until at least 2008 until it's 100 years ...

Oh, Cubs fans will be waiting longer than that.

The last great white hopes were Wood and Prior - who could have been sublime if only they'd been able to stay healthy; time for a new dynamic, and even with Trib Co's $$ and Hendry's competence, the building of a team takes a good 3+ years.

Saw this a couple days ago. It's well worth checking out. Jeff Garlin is featured a lot and he's pretty funny when discussing how sad it is that he hates the Padres, a team not worth anyone's hate, because of the '84 NLCS.

I was sort of hoping they'd show at least some footage of the Giants knocking out the Cubs in '89 but I guess that wasn't quite in the same league of heartbreak for their fans as '69, '84, and '03 were.

It also would have been a bonus if they could have somehow interviewed Bartman. I suppose witness protection frowns upon that sort of thing.

Many Cubs fans hate Will Clark just as much as Garvey. 89 team was a big surprise.

Wish this doc would have been a half hour longer to cover 89, 98 and some of the other players like Sandberg, Dawson, Wood, Prior.
