Thanks for this one, Nick. I saw this back in April or so in Greenwich Village (East Village Cinemas -- the perfect setting to compare and contrast the Village of old with the Village today) and I thought Holm was absolutely breathtaking in it. I would almost say a career performance, but the man's had such a long and impressive career that I don't think I could commit to that with any authority.
Though I would actually be surprised if Oscar voters remembered this one, since it really never got much of a theatrical release outside New York. It would, however, begin to make up for the fact that Tucci's first film, Big Night, got bubkes in terms of recognition from the Academy. I thought that was easily the best film of 1996, and one of my favorites of the entire decade.
