And if anyone deserve a nod in that flick it's Brandon Routh.

Jeffrey Jones, Howard the Duck. The only one who seemed to get it.

Maybe. But shit's pretty subjective. I'm pretty sure that for every movie one guy thinks is shit, there's another one who has it in his top ten. Except for maybe XXX.

Kate Winslet - Romance and Cigarettes

I kinda thought Tim Robbins owned in that one too...

Ryan Reynolds in Blade:Trinity
James Woods--Vampires
-Kurt Russell in 3000 MILES TO GRACELAND.

-I was watching THE SPECIALIST last night(a film that could be considered shit), but I realized that Stallone has much more charisma and charm than most people give him credit for.

He's got a much wider range than Ahnuld, Seagal, and Van Damme, although you're never gonna find me defending him as a bona-fide good actor.

More recently, Mickey Rourke in SIN CITY.

Ain't it a bit early to be drunk?

David Caruso in PROOF OF LIFE. Made Crowe look even more disinterested to be in that film than he actually was.
Paul Giamatti - Lady in the Water*

Liam Neeson & Ian McDiarmid - The Phantom Menace*

* and I'm not even sure how I feel about these movies anymore... it's a love & hate "relationshit", I guess.

Brad Pitt - Cool World

That is the only good thing about bad films, you can find out who going up the ladder in hollywood (maybe the best performance in a shitty film ever).

I should also add Steven Hill in Billy Bathgate.

I was going to say Neeson as well.

I thought he was just as bad as everything else in that movie. My opinion may have been soured by the fact that I'd recently seen Kalifornia for the first time, and Pitt was awesome in that. I just remember him being really wooden and unnatural in Cool World.

Agreed. He comes across as a male model, delivering corny lines.

Eric Bana- TROY

Bruce Lee - ENTER THE DRAGON

Now that guy was a star. An actual, proper star.

Good answer. He's definitely the best part of that movie, hands down.

Christopher Meloni in WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER

Shit overrated movie, but Meloni was awesome in it. I was roaring at his big dramatic speech

Actually, I'd give damn near the whole cast props for that flick - either the script was shit or it was edited badly; the problem wasn't the acting.

Christopher Reeve- Superman III & IV.

Clint Eastwood- Heartbreak Ridge. A shit plot that falls apart at the end, but brought to life thanks to Clint's salty one-liners and fuck-you attitude.

Ditto, no way is it even close to shitty. Disappointment? ok...fair enough.

I dunno it always bothers me to see Kevin Costner attempt to look badass...
He wasn't going for a realistic badass, that would not have worked. His goal was for an over the top scene-chewing badass which matched the film perfectly.
Alec Baldwin - Too many flicks to mention
post #40 of 114
I would say Jeff Daniels in The Squid and the Whale, but since so many of you like that film, I won't mention it.
Even if you don't like it, I think calling The Squid and the Whale a shit film is ridiculous.

Stuart Wilson in No Escape.

Why we don't see more of him I know not. Absolutely stole the show has Marek.

I'll mention Wilson again and say he was the sole redeeming thing in Fascination. Crap attempt at a steamy-erotic thriller but he was very good.

Denzel Washington was a revelation in "The Hurricane" but that was really an inaccurate, whitewashing disaster of a movie. He carries the damn thing on his shoulders, but the screenplay is so interested in knighting Ruben Carter that scenes without him only add to his mystique. He was matched up at the Oscars that year with Spacey in "American Beauty" and Russell Crowe in "The Insider" and I think he topped them both.

Well, if we are talking about production values, pacing, cinematography and other technical specifics, I agree -- it's not a shit film.

What makes it a shit film to me is that nearly every character is despicable, selfish and unlikeable and there's no pleasure or entertainment to be had watching it, unless one finds kinship with such peoples.

I personally just got angry with them the entire time and saw no redemption ever come, nor any consequences for their "enlightened" brokenness. And we're all spouting unprovable truths around here, so I like to say it's a shit film.

Oh, I know I'm in a minority, but there's plenty of other non-shit films listed above, namely the glorious Phantom of zee Menace.

What Moltisanti said - Costner was SOOO over the top, and clearly enjoying himself while doing it.

The failing was that his character had ZERO redeeming qualities; normally, Costner would have been the anti-hero you love to hate, but I just hated the fucking sociopath. And that wasn't Costner's fault.

I'll throw Outside Providence out there - though not "shit" it is what it is; Baldwin is pretty great in a role that could have been very mundane.

I'm actually just referring to those clunkers - The Juror, The Last Shot, Fun with Dick and Jane etc. Baldwin's a ray of sunshine in pretty much any shit movie he happens to be in.

Good call with the Hurricane. Denzel was great, but I hated the film. (Shudder)

Here's another good Baldwin performance in a bad film- Elizabethtown. Baldwin is always good (and great fun in the departed), one of my favourite actors, come to think of it.

Here's more...

Gerard Depiadiu in Green Card
Rhys Ifans in Love, Honour and Obey
Steve Buscemi in Big Daddy
