Video from the scene shows at least three apartments in the high rise fully engulfed in flames.

News reports I'm watching now indicate that it was most likely a helicopter. Still no reports of any casualties.

You should probably change the title to something else so that people would know what you are talking about.

I don't know that anyone knows what is going on just yet. An eyewitness claims that it was a small airplane.

I'm watching the feed now. If it's terrorism they sure have scaled back their budget. It looks like it smacked into the building and fell to the street. I can only imagine what the NYFD and NYPD must have felt when they got calls for a plane crash in a building again. Eesh.

There is a helipad right near there, so I'm assuming that's what it is. You can hear the sirens from where I am (30 blocks away)

Man, if this makes it harder for me to get home, I'm gonna be pissed.

I was going to say that it was a Repbulican plan to take attention off of Mark Foley and put the focus back on striking fear into the minds of American with possible terror attacks. Sure this was an "accident" but next time it won't be!

WTF. I'm hearing the plane was registered to Cory Lidle, on the Yankees, and unconfirmed report that he was on the plane.

CNN is saying Lidle was the pilot, not just on the plane. Weird. CNN also keeps mentioning 9/11 for some reason, I don't get why.

Well I do, but this isn't a terrorist attack, they keep stressing that it isn't a terrorist attack, so it seems like they are just mentioning it to get people to freak out a little. That's just my impression.

It's not crazy that they mention 9/11, but I think the complaint is that they're just sitting there saying whatever comes to mind. We're not watching the news for grade school specuation, for "hey, a plane crashed in Manhattan. That's weeeird, man," we're watching for, you know, the news.

I think the fact that the news is sensationalist is itself not news anymore. They're saying it a lot because it reminds people of it. It's not like planes crashing into buildings is an everyday thing.

When Lidle pitched for the A's, I used to see him talking to Middle Eastern men in the stands all time. It may very well be a terrorist attack. Authorities should just apprehend Jason Giambi right now.

Whoa, I'm in Colorado and I was woken up at 12 to jets streaking over head. I joked to myself that NORAD was scrambling jets to intercept a North Korean missile.... could those have been the jets sent up as a response to this? What time did the plane crash?

On the news they said that the military claimed fighters were scrambled around the country, but wouldn't give details. I guess it was true.
