I have a good feeling about this. Just that one little pic made my nipples hard.

Just awesome.

Brian shows the one-sheet.

Oh hells yeah.
Now, that, my friends, is a poster. Hot damn.
Best part of all? It's being released this November... I had absolutely no clue that it was coming this soon.
There better be some scenes of Jane fighting off monster spiders with a tennis racket or I'm going to be pissed.
The poster has a 50's retro feel to it, thanks to the exaggerated font. Looks good.
So that's for real, then? I saw it the other day and suspected it was fan-art.
I'm officially hyped. Can't wait to see what Darabont can do with horror... and monsters for that matter. I know he'll get the drama right.

Yep... it was unveiled at Comic Con. This is the first decent quality image of it online.

You're right that it shows too much (especially Miss Carmody's ideas on how to satisfy God's wrath), but damn that looks good.
Yeah, I hate that it shows the end to conflicts. Like the girl slapping her, the guy going into the mist. Without the buildup the power's lost.

But man, I got a little chill when I saw the bird-thing snatch the bug-thing from the window. Just like the story.
I think the trailer looks great. Dont think it shows too much.. I mean Christ the story has been out for 20+ years, if you havent already read it, what kind of horror fan are you anyway LOL. Plus it doesnt really show too much of the monsters. I love the shot of the huge cloud of fog coming in
post #64 of 97
Looks good, and I bet they've saved the good stuff.

I just hope they don't focus too much on the nutty harpy and her fanatical band.
I love the trailer. This is one of my favorite King stories. Can't wait for this!

So glad to see some footage. Felt like a dream that this was getting made. Feels real finally.
Finally we get to see some footage.
But I agree, I wouldn't show this to anyone not familiar with the story.
The monsters come over a bit cheesy.
This looks like pretty standard King fare that I'm surprised made it past the Television Mini-Series stage. It also bears a frighting resemblance to "Storm of the Century", but that may just be because King is a bit of hack who reuses his own bits far too often.
I hope they're not done with the CG yet. The mist creature being fought by Thomas Jane looks very hasbro.
I thought Storm of the Century had some high points.

Especially the epilogue.

The epilogue is fantastic. Tim Daly does a pretty good performance there.
i thought it was a sweet trailer, but I haven't read the book so I can't really talk. i will go see it for sure though after seeing the trailer.

I came here because I wish to fellate Mr. Riviello.

Ha. Ha. Fellatio.
I thought Storm of the Century was pretty damn fantastic for a broadcast TV mini series too.

Of course I say this while having bought the DVD two years ago and being afraid to watch it again for fear of realizing I was wrong.

Thanks. Just to clarify for anyone thinking I'm just editing people's posts, he's some kinda shill-bot, spouting nonsense about ipods in a weird place.

Also, just wanted to reiterate that I do think this movie looks great. (I've gotten hate mail) I just wish the trailer made me more excited about it.
The trailer was a little spoilery for my liking, but I'm still looking forward to seeing this.

I f you took out the grocery carts it looks like a sequel to The Terminal. Just, you know, set after the apocalypse.
I kinda like this new poster. The mist effect under the door is nice. But the outside world just isn't...Misty enough. It looks like they're enjoying the Aurora Borealis.

Don't knock the Aurora!
I really dislike the poster. It seems to be for a completely different film than 'The Mist'. It looks like it should have this tagline: "This fall, you and your family we be enchanted by the pretty lights."*

Still, I have high hopes for this film. I thought the acting and themes shown in the trailer were spot-on. C'mon better CGI!

Also, I'd like to add my love for the 'Storm of the Century' mini-series since it has been mentioned a few times in this thread. What a grim treat. Easily, one of the best made for TV horror films ever put on the air.

Poster definitely needs some tentacles.

I wonder how shocked Grandma's gonna be when she goes in expecting something like Shawshank or Green Mile. "That Darabont makes such uplifting feel-good movies. Sich a nice boy..."

Probably as shocked as the Mother who took her small child to Bridge to Terabithia expecting to see Lil' Lord of the Rings and instead got a heaping bowl of child death.

It shocked me...

I wasn't expecting Chronicles of Narnia meets My Girl.

Tom Jane: "Not a queer-ass attempt at making a horror movie..."

Thank God for that.

Yaay! It looks good to me, although as much as I like Marcia Gay Harden, I'm wondering if she was the right choice for Mrs. Carmody. Mrs. Carmody is probably one of the fucking scariest King characters ever - MGH wouldn't have been my first choice. Guess we'll see how it turns out.

For some reason, I've always thought of that character as older.

The first time I ever read the novella, I immediately pictured someone like Reta Shaw (Mrs. Grindley in Escape to Witch Mountain) - pushy, shrill, cackling old battle-axe. Maybe I got too literal in thinking Reta Shaw (who's dead now anyway, but I was thinking someone like her), but Marcia Gay Harden is as far from Mrs. Carmody as you can get, I think. We'll see!

Good call, or Fionnula Flanagan or Ellen Burstyn...

Or even Charlotte Rae (Mrs. Garrett!). OK maybe not her.
Those are good picks, too (you're right - except for Charlotte Rae). Also maybe Shirley Knight or Lois Smith. Maybe even a comeback role for "Ma Walton" herself, Michael Learned - she did a guest shot on Special Victims Unit as the crazed matriarch of this really rich, evil family, and she was scary as hell. So I don't know if the more actresses we bring up, the less I'm liking the idea of MGH in that role? Or, if like Michael Learned on SVU, MGH might surprise us with how a normally sweet-seeming person can truly play scary.

More good suggestions, Lisa. Since you mentioned Reta Shaw, howbout fellow dead thesps, Elsa Lanchester or Hermione Baddeley (all 3 from Mary Poppins)?

Bette Davis (Watcher in the Woods era or any era for that matter) would have been extra creepy. Or maybe even the ever-witch-like Glenn Close.

Considering Star Trek: First Contact, and Silent Hill, Alice Krige would have been too on-the-nose, so maybe Ellen Burstyn's turn in The Wicker Man update would have made her too stunt-casty as well.

Michael Learned had a nice little recurring part on SCRUBS. One of the few constant patients before the character passed away.
