Arguably the last great season comes to DVD on December 19th. Only one true stinker and that's "The Principal and the Pauper" when they reveal Skinner's "real" name is Armin Tamzarian.

The Two Mrs. Nahasapeemapetilons
Miracle on Evergreen Terrace
Realty Bites
Bart Star
Treehouse of Horror VIII
The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson

Lisa's Sax
Trash of The Titans
Natural Born Kissers
Lost Our Lisa
King of the Hill
Girly Edition
Simpson Tide
This Little Wiggy
Lisa the Simpson

Love that episode. I actually saw that episode on TV (in reruns) about 3-4 weeks after 9/11, and was kind of surprised that they showed it, considering how many movies were scrambling at the time to remove any references to the World Trade Center buildings.

Good thing we'll see it in its full glory. That WTC bathroom gag was classic.

"The Cartridge Family" is my favorite episode of this season. Pure Genius!!! I love when Homer was sitting on his lawn chair during the waiting period to buy his gun.

This is the last season that I will be buying on DVD.

Funny, that's probably the episode that killed it for me. The idea of Homer being so ridiculously dangerous towards his family, walking around shooting things, seemd so totally out of character as to be quite angering. Homer was always stupid, but not THAT stupid.

And I think having New York in it spoiled the 'parallel reality' the show seemed to exist in. Just a thought.

Won't be bothering with this.

Can't go wrong with another Simpsons season on DVD!

Too lazy to check right now, but does the 10th Season have the episode in the end where they "move the town 5 miles down the road because of garbarge" ?

If so, that was the "Jump the Shark" episode for me.

Why? The show went all over the place, to all kinds of real places. I'm pretty bad at placing episodes in certain seasons, but I remember one of the earliest episodes had Bart going to France. Also the episode where he went to Australia. Not to mention all of the real places they've gone inside of the US!

Not so much early on. And I didn't really like the Australia episode. What real places did they go to in America in the seasons before this one? I remember the World Fair episode in Tenessee.

Well, like I said, I'm not the best at placing episodes by the seasons they were in, but here's a couple off the top of my head.

The spring break episode in Florida

The episode where Homer helps Mel Gibson with his movie in Hollywood

I know there's been a couple of episodes in DC, but the only one I specifically remember is when Krusty was elected to Kongress (lame, I know)

Ugh. I'm terrible at remembering this stuff. If I think of more, I'll post...

I'm pretty sure all of those came post-season 8, which I regard as the last good season. There was an episode in season 3 (I think) where Lisa went to DC after winning a speech contest.

My point is, The Simpsons was better when it had made-up places that were subtle parodies of real places (like Capitol City), and when it relied more on being funny than on cheap celebrity cameos and lazy real-world references.

The Movie promo on Disc 1 was mildly entertaining.

Indeed, the last great season - And despite the presence of a number of gems, there are more duds than I remember. Still, the great episodes work (especially the Frostilicus one... in "Lisa The Simpson," I think), and this will be the last Simpsons season that I buy without any reservations.

Season 10 will be bought for solely for completion, and beyond that point... I've got no interest in the show's painful downfall in the ensuing seasons.

Didn't they go to DC when Lisa was in some essay competition? Season 4 maybe?

Not to mention their take on Broadway shows and especially Bart's trip to Mad Magazine.
