I did that last weekend and it worked just fine until now.  I'm off to buy another hard drive and see if that's a fix.

Several movies up, but for this weekend only.

Well I may of just be screwed one game.  I choose the free game 1 (just the option, I didn't get to choose an actual game) , the PS3 store froze.  I turned off my PS3 and now it seems I'm out one choice.  Now on the good side, there really was only one game I wanted to choose (LBP) but still, I don't like that because my system freeze I don't get to choose what I'm suppose to be offered.

Edit to add:  Ok its fixed, if you have this problem where the store seems to eat one of your free games.  Go to the Account Managment, then click on service list, and you should be able to download from there.

I bought a new hard drive and installed it just fine!  yay for going from 120GB to 250GB for only $44.  Not like I'm going to use all that space anyways.

So we have these free games. And I have some other shit that I bought too before. If I get a new drive now, as I'm still rolling the 80gb model, I think that I can DL the crap that I paid for, but if I don't replace the drive in the 30 day window that the games are free, are we screwed on that? It's not the end of the world, but I wonder if you just add the games you want to your que they will still be free after the 30 day limit. Any guesses?

Mine was pretty empty too, with only game installs and a couple of albums residing on it, until I started using handbrake to encode some movies and tv shows.

Cannot connect to the store at all today. Sony's servers are getting hammered. I got in this morning, but encountered error messages when trying to nab my first game. The option to download it has vanished but thankfully there's that back door option to retry downloading it.

I may try a movie rental this weekend, depending on the choices, but I'll hold off on the games until next week, I think. I'm backlogged on gaming as it is.

Isn't that only for the Sony Pictures hack?  Isn't that different from the PSN thing?

Ohhh, you're right.  I didn't differentiate between the two.  My mistake.

downloading little big planet right now.  Got error messages the first 6 times I tried it.  Think Infamous will be my 2nd game.  Never been a fan of whipeout or never heard of the other two.

So I can watch Ghostbusters, Final Fantast: TSW, or Bad Boys... considering I own GB, I think I'll pass on there "free" movies.

Downloaded Infamous and Dead Nation. Infamous was good.

I keep getting an error message. WTF? I do not understand this hard reset. Shit should just work.

I got Wipeout and Dead Nation since I already own LBP and Infamous. I'll probably get around to playing them at some point.

Had to wait until about midnight to do it, but got Wipeout and Infamous. I'll take care of the PSP picks later. Can anyone give the thumbs up or down to Pursuit Force?

Lol anyone check out their free movie rentals? Be prepared to giggle.

Also im having a ball with Infamous. I haven't played games in years because for whatever reason I lost touch with them. I only bought the PS3 because at the time it was considered the best blu ray player. Doubt I will become a huge gamer or anything now but it is fun.

Dead Nation not so much.

Re the selection of free movie rentals. I never realized things were so bad for Sony. Those hackers really did some damage, didn't they?

Anyway, games wise I went for Dead Nation and Wipeout HD. The store was very screwy but eventually it went through.

Get the free stuff while it's still free. Everything you've downloaded should stay linked with your PSN account, so you should be able to redownload the same games for free later if you replace the drive or get a new PS3.

I sorta hate the PSN store interface. After selecting that I wanted to DL a PS3 game, I accidentally flipped back out to the main menu and now I can't DL my free games. There doesn't seem to be a place where your selection was stored. And now the option to re-select a PS3 gamei s gone. They really just slapped this thing together, didn't they?

If you did start trying to download them but can't access them anymore through the PSN store, go back to the main PS3 menu, then Account Management, Transactions/Services, SCEA, and they should be accessible from there.

Thanks, Disciple. I found the proper FAQ on Sony's website. My menu's are a bit different (It's in Account Management > Transaction Management > Services List, obviously). Downloading Infamous right now. Slowly. But it's working!

People pay for Playstation Plus?  Thanks Sony for letting my try before I buy... not impressed

Oh I totally agree. Playstation Plus provides nothing that is worth paying for.

Funny thing is that you can BUY those on blu ray for 10 bucks pretty much anywhere. They really should have opened up their entire rental catalog for this. After all we are talking about RENTING something not buying. In a world of Netflix and Red Box this is hilarious.

Yeah....it let me temporarily buy Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for free.......thats about it. It knocked a few bucks off a couple games but after the 30 day trial they take the free shit away, not sure about the discounted games.

I had the same issue as Pop Zeus when it came to the 2 free games, so thanks for the info, guys!

I know right. How about some movies made in this DECADE?

While I do love me some Bad Boys and Ghostbusters, I was expecting something a bit greater. This is a perfect opportunity to show off their movie network and it's a swing and a miss.

And only offering it for this weekend is such BS when you consider all of the issues people have had trying to download the "Welcome Back" freebies. They should have given us at least a week to rent the films.

All of this shows just how greedy these big corporations can be. I can see not letting us have a free rental on a movie like "The Social Network" that just came out but they should have opened up the entire Sony catalog (perhaps excluding films released in the past 1-3 years) that they have available online. There is no reason other than greed to limit it to those three and to limit it to just this weekend. Its not like they're giving us the films permanently, its just a damn rental there is no reason to be such a tightwad about this.

I would have loved to know their thought process when they picked what films they were going to let people watch for free.   It had to have come down to the fact that 2 out of the 3 films, people have seen and 1 that many people won't care to watch.. So it was win win....There can't be many people watching the movies this weekend.

FYI guys, If you have multiple PSN accounts for different regions (US, AUS, U.K etc) you will get two free games for EACH regions PSN account. I now own all of the free PSN games thanks to this. Thanks for that, Sony.

The movie selection is pathetic and borderline insulting.  They should have either opened the catalog or not have offered any movie rentals.  I'm almost embrassed for them to be honest, after being hacked for essentialy using "dated" methods, they decide to make it better by offering some old films.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Ghost Busters.

Yeah and thats the thing, I love Ghost Busters too.........and I bought it for 10 bucks like a year ago. Thats the problem I have seen 2 of the movies and have no desire to see the other. Rentals guys RENTALS they pull this with.

I must need to do that, because I selected my two games and now I don't have the option to pick anymore games, but nothing downloaded.

Bad Boys, Ghostbusters and Final Fantasy?  Surprised none of the Spider-Man movies were on there.

does anyone have problems with the "download in background" option.  Everytime I pick that, the download just stops and resets.

Downloaded Little Big Planet in about 19 minutes.  For some reason Infamous is coming up with a "2549" minutes to download message.

I was laughing too hard to be offended.

"Sorry about your personal information. Here's a free rental for that Final Fantasy movie! NOW WE'RE SQUARE."

We should get some CHUD races going with all the people getting Wipeout.

Oooh... I've had Wipeout for ages.  Would be a great reason to break it out again.

I went with LBP and Dead Nation. Mostly LBP for all the player-built extras that are out there. How did I get those levels?

I'd be up for it.

Yep, I'd be up for that too. I'm ok at wipeout singleplayer but I get my ass handed to me online.

Since I got all 6 free games, my 40 gb hdd has no room. Gonna be picking up a 500gb hdd for ps3 soon.

Keep in mind I don't have a headset and suck at the game itself. But I suggested it, so you have to let me play with you.

My PSN name is the same as it is here:  mcnooj82

I just downloaded Wipeout Sunday night.  Have to do the install and I'll be set to be murdered as well.  Meant to set up Infamous for last night but forgot.  7 GB download on my paltry DSL line...probably take 3 days.

not that impressed with inFamous.  It's decent in all, I guess I was expecting more.  I'm probably jaded since my first PS3 games were God of War 3 and Uncharted 2.

Send me a message on PSN about getting in on some Wipeout online when you guys want to

Man, I have no idea what the hell I'm doing in Wipeout.  Downloading Infamous now.  And I really need to get a new hard drive.  I had to do some clean up in order to download Infamous.  Still have the ol' 60 GB model.

My son will be giddy about this afternoon because I'm downloading the new COD:Black Ops map pack (but he doesn't know that yet).  He's in a camp this afternoon, then when he gets home today, it should be installed.

Really? I'm in the opposite camp, whereas I wasn't expecting much and I kinda love the thing.
