...I'm heading out in an hour...both show at basically the same time.

I can't decide.

...anybody?

Go see ROYALE. Unless of course you really like to put your feet up on the seat in front of you, if that's the case see STRANGER THAN FICTION. I hear Queen Latifah acts sassy in it.

I was leaning towards Royale, especially after actually watching the trailer.

I'm just such a Ferrell junkie...

Why would putting my feet up on the seat in front of me make a difference?

I like Ferrell too but FICTION just seems like another attempt to soften himself and broaded his appeal to more women. There's nothing really wrong with wanting to do that, it just seems like FICTION is a lame vehicle to accomplish that goal.

With ROYALE you'll see a very familiar, and somewhat tired, series of films get a much needed shake-up and an actor who is totally game at making the character his own right off the bat.

I'd say see Casino Royale. They're both pretty good, but more people are talking about Royale and you won't hear only the sounds of crickets when you ask if anyone else saw it.

Emma Thompson or Eva Green?
Cool guy beating people up or curly haired guy musing?
Quaint elevator quirky sounds or pumping Bond music?
Adventure and intrique or irony and fantasy?

I think this is an easy one.

...so, I put in my vote for Casino Royale.

...and I was shot down.

We're seeing Ferrell.

Thanks for trying guys...I even quoted you to get some ammo for CR.

Maybe next time!

That sucks. I hate that feeling of seeing a movie when you know there is something more to your liking being shown on a screen just a few yards away. It happens to all of us and it's always a tough road to hoe.

Well, at least it will be quieter, and there shouldn't be a shortage of seats.

This is why I usually go to movies alone. No one argues with me. And if someone does, the medicine makes them go away.

Thankfully, my non-movie geek friends have pretty much learned that my decision is the right one, so there is usually very little arguing.

Am I the only one who thought Royale sucked? Hey, Ricardo Montalban, stop whispering to the accountant how much Bond has bet in the 40 minute poker scene--she knows how to count! She's an accountant!

Also, the "twist" at the end that we all see coming a mile away?--Yeah, why did it take that long to get to it. Why do we spend the whole beginning watching Bond figure out how to scale a building using his brain over dexterity unless we're supposed to take away from that the fact that he's super smart, only to conclude that he's a moron by the end. A moron who can't see the "big twist."

I liked the 60's feel of the thing and I kind of like that he's a Frankenstein monster/sociopath that, one assumes, M turns into a suave man of one-liners. But for all the glowing reviews saying that this isn't just a great Bond flick but a great movie as well...ARE MOVIE REVIEWERS HIGH?

It's the same old shit. Plus 40 minutes of gambling.

Anyone else disappointed?

I'm usually not one for broad, far reaching statements, especially since Royale isn't perfect, but....

Yes. Yes you are.

There were a lot of 14 year olds in my audience that didn't seem to like it.

Not enough swearing, probably.

I stopped reading valiens post about three sentences in, for fear of spoilers...

Now, I'll have to remember to overlook it every time I'm in this thread until I've seen Royale.
