Dammit! I can't buy one yet. Need to replenish funds first. I mounted my new TV on the wall yesterday though, and my home theater is looking sweet and awaits the pleasant company of the Wii.

I actually can't wait to see how the original Zelda looks on a 40" widescreen TV, of all things.

Where are you guys putting the sensor bar?

Yeah, you'll know you've been added when you can send a message to them. Otherwise it's grayed out.

Neal- put my sensor bar on top of my tv, which was a bit of a bitch cause it's slanted, but I got it propped up nice. No problems whatsoever- aiming in the Rayman shooting games (which are insanely fun) was perfect.

One of the sensor bar complaints floating around before launch was that you need to point at the sensor bar rather than the TV. Is anyone experiencing this? I have my sensor bar below my TV and I actually point at the screen to do stuff, not below.

Trauma Center is so hot. The GUILT surgeries seem to be a lot harder, though.

i've notice the Wii wireless antenna is a bit fussy. i had it set up an upstairs room, in which 2 computers have no problem accessing a downstairs wireless point, and i wasn't able to get a good signal until i moved it a round the room a bit.

otherwise, i'm not exactly ambidextrous - i'm an unnatural lefty, so i hold the remote in my left hand without the nunchuck but with my right hand with the nunchuck. the only game i have so far the use the nunchuck is Zelda and the controller set up does take some getting used to.

How many Miis have people had show up on their Mii parade? I had one person show up last night, but nothing since.
Only one.

I've only got two people (me and my girl) roaming the internet myself.

It's eerie how much these things can look like you though- mine looks like me from a little bit of a distance. A friend of mine got one that looks EXACTLY like her. Pretty creepy.

Bad phrasing... should have used two sentences.

The games themselves look nice (not stretched out on a widescreen HDTV).
They put the Xbox Live Arcade ports to shame.

I didn’t mean to insinuate that the Xbox Live ports were stretched, but they do have vertical bars on the sides, while the virtual games don’t (they fit the entire screen perfectly without stretching and other imperfections).

Granted, I don't own an HDTV but that sounds impossible, if you're saying the VC games display in 16:9 with no stretching. Every VC game originally ran in 4:3, it would have to be stretched in widescreen.

Guess what I just did?

Left Zelda at work.

Wii Sports DVD Cover art Right click, save as.

A guy from Cheapassgamer made this. It looks pretty nice. I'm glad I snagged one of those $.01 Activision DVDs at Target before launch since they were missing on launch day. A black case just wouldn't look right.

I'd like to see some Mii's in my parade...or something.

My number is 6187 9823 3253 4294

Console name is Miyazaki

It really doesn't seem to... if I had a digital camera, I'd take pics. I think they updated all the games to run in 16:9...

I'm loving the hell out of Wii Sports, Rayman, and even Madden for christs sake. Marvel Ultimate Alliance is fun, but so far is the only one where the controls feel tacked on. I haven't even opened Zelda yet.

My Mii parade is lonely, please add me and let me know if you do, i'll hit you back.

Wii Number = 2194 5515 7068 1664
So how does the mii parade work? I've seen vids on IGN of all the people wandering around, but don't quite get it. If someone's mii is wandering on your console, does that mean they're online at the time?
Your system is always online.

It flashes blue when it's accessing the internet- it was doing it before so I turned it on to see what was up, and my friend had sent me a message and a new Mii.

I'm adding everyone from this thread- you can collect 100 Mii's, after all.

Did anyone try the photo channel? I would but my camera doesn't use an SD card, dammit.
I guess I should have rephrased. I know about the "always online" thing, I was just curious as to whether they'd disappear if you were say, not online. I don't have wireless(or highspeed for that matter) at my house for the moment, and didn't know if once they were on the system they were there for good or not(wandering, I mean). Hopefully they'll sport some icon or something when that person is playing an online game in the future.
Pretty damn cool that the other miis randomly show up in Wii Sports.

What happens is- the Miis show up in the parade when you're online- and if you see them you can choose to download them to your system (it says Add me or something). Once you do that it's always in your crowd of Miis. You can't edit them because they were created by someone else, though.

You don't know whose Mii is whose, though- which actually makes things ripe with possibility for famous chud characters...
Thanks Alex.
I'm sure all would be perfectly clear to me within' minutes of using the system, I was just a bit confused. Too bad it doesn't tell you who is who, although all you'd see is a number anyway.

I'm really curious how the online system is going to work now. Fuck, I need to get one of these, I might not be able to wait for the black system at this point.

The IGN Red Steel review is up. Got a 6.0, seems to be a pain in the ass to turn. Despite the shitty reviews I'd still like to check it out first hand. I'm hoping it's successful enough to get a sequel that actually works well.
My brother and I have been playing Wii Sports all day, and the only game we didn't play was boxing. My shoulder and arm are sore now, but for a free game I played the heck out of it - moreso than many of the games I played good money for.

Btw, can you change your Mii avatar's name later, and not lose the stats? I made it look kinda like me, except handsomer.

Oh, and I don't need to have anything to get online and use the Wii parade? I thought I need the WiFi accessory to get online.
Question: How do you delete Creator names in Mii? I made one and later I decided to change it, but the old name still remains. This may seem minor but it's like an itch I can't scratch. I'd really like to get rid of it.

You need some kind of internet connection to make Wii Parade work properly. You can still get into the Parade area but no one is going to show up.

Can't you edit creator name? I thought there were a few options if you click on the creator box.

Wii Sports is much more fun than I initially thought. There are a lot of fun minigames in the training area.

The bowling's pretty goddamn fun when you knock over 90+ pins in a strike.

I'm getting older in my training, though.
i found the bowling the easiest of the games, although my housemates didn't seem to think so. i'm getting the hang of baseball and tennis. golf is going to take a while.

I don't usually play golfing games; I found them rather hard to control with game pads and bored, but I've played golf in Wii over and over and I love it. I'm not that good with it yet, but I see my score improving and it is what keeps it interesting. From selecting the golf club to moving the direction of your swing, there is surprisingly many options for a free golf game like this.
I'll be quick,
never has been playing with my wii more fun.

I haven't played a zelda game since snes, and I'm loving this one.
I find the lack of nunchuks available disturbing.

Just picked up Madden. I sucked the first game with the Steelers and fumbled the ball a few times and couldn't tip any balls (Just like in real life! Fa!). The movements are frustrating, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of them later. It just seems unnatural to push down on the analog to rush the QB and then push forward with both the nunchuk and remote. Your momentum is one direction, but you're forced to go two different directions to run and tackle. Weird, but passing and rushing are fun (but not perfect).

I get a error code 110213 when I try and update my Wii, anyone know what that refers to?

Yeah, you're fucked, Chocula. Be sure to store any game saves on an SD card before sending the console off for repairs.
You gotta be fucking kidding me...

Could I try exchanging it in store?
Good thing I haven't hooked mine up yet. Sounds like this problem has to do with an internet update, and not the system itself, am i right?
I remember reading a piece of paper in the instructions that said DON'T RETURN YOUR WII TO A STORE - like that- probably because of any personal info that might be on it. Apparently they'll ship you a new one, and you can use yours while you wait- then sent the broken one back when you've got your replacement. I think it's only a problem if you've downloaded VC games.

You have an SD card?

I think the SD cards are "console specific", and Nintendo isn't repairing, just replacing (which is good, but your game saves are fucked).

Yup. You call, they ship a new system and a box to you, when you get your new one you send the broken one back. Sucks that this is happening, but that's a better return system than the 360 had. Almost like Nintendo was expecting it....

You get the same warning on other items, like buying furniture that you have to assemble from a store. I always thought it probably was because it's more expensive for the manufacturer when people return it to the store, instead of them dealing with the customer directly.
Got off the phone with them and I'll be getting it in 3-6 days I'm told. Until then I really can just play Zelda without turning it off but that'd get me nowhere. I could just play wii sports until then. Then when it comes buy an SD card.

Thats a bummer. At least you found one. Gonna try later this afternoon again.I'm hoping some places just haven't received the stock yet...

That great...except you can't transfer saves to an SD card until you do the firmware update. Oops.

I'm not getting wireless until the end of next month. I almost don't want to play any more Trauma Center (or Zelda when I get it later this week) until after I do the update just in case this happens to me.
Well I popped in Zelda t give it a quick go, and then I popped wii sports back in.....and the remote won't get picked up by the wii or something, I press the synch button, it flashes but nothing.

So.....yeah.

Edit: It got pciked up, and I think i'll go an get a SD card while FS has a discount on one for $19.99, wish I had a digital camera that took them though, my digital camera takes something else.
is there a wireless router anyone can recommend for use with the wii and ds?
This one works beautifully.
im trying to run the test from the nintendo site to see if that will work for me but it wont install the active x component. im not sure why
post #95 of 1536
Try this then. You can find them at pretty much any store- I saw a bunch at Best Buy the other day. It's just the official Nintendo WiFi Connector- plug it iinto a usb port and you're good to go.

Oh, and hey- Bonk's Adventure and Bomberman are available for download. I think Bonk's going to be my first download.
yes again i understand what the item is. however nintendo recommends running a test to see if your network will support the product. currently i cant get the test to run.

I just picked up the Wi-Fi adapter, but now I'm wondering if I should wait until I beat Zelda before trying to hook this fucker up to the internet, just in case.
Well if it's going to happen, it's going to happen. From all reports the errors don't affect your games- it just doesn't let you get online.

Straight Edge- sorry man, got confused.

Bonk still rules, btw.
but isnt the problem inherent to the wii operating system? How come only some systems are being affected? How are they getting lucky?
