Constantine 2

From the latest news round-up, I'll believe in a Constantine 2 when I see it. Either way, it's a shame they're not getting Francis Lawrence back. I hope it's because they couldn't get him rather than signaling that they'll be going for a less imaginative vision for the sequel.

I really enjoyed the first one, and I was a fan of the comics. Keanu did a pretty good "American Constantine" and I agree, the visuals were pretty great.

Be funny if they took the character to England this time. And I'm all for a sequel if they can get Peter Stormare to reprise his role as Satan.

I've been waiting for a sequel to this movie since finishing the first one. I agree that Lawrence not being around is a waste but...hopefully we'll get some director that can add to the mythos and not fuck it up.

No Francis Lawrence? Bullshit I say. That lessens my anticipation for this. I'm kind of surprised Keanu is wanting to come back on board honestly.

Can they do a Bond like reboot and maybe take it back to its roots a little?

The films main problem was there was a lot more 'talking' about cool stuff than 'doing or seeing' cool stuff. And Keanu was woefully miscast (when is he not....well, Bill and Ted).

To be honest, the director would be the main element to keep - as the tone was cool enough. It justs needs more inpired writing and, ideally, a cockney 'lad' as Constantine. the guy is meant to a a charming bastard 'geezer' - Keanu cant manage one of the three.

Sean Bean, Paul Bettany, Jason Statham would be far better.

Aside from a few dissenting Chewers, I'm pretty sure most people don't want this.

"Constantine" was one of the most pleasant surprises of last year for me, I really loved it. I'll be pretty amazed if a sequel actually happens (though hey, we're getting "Hellboy 2") but I think it definitely deserves one.

Francis Lawrence did a phenomenal job; a music video director who actually brought storytelling skills along with a great visual sense. And Keanu's otherworldly-ness was perfect for this character.

Hope it happens, not holding my breath. Lawrence doesn't really need Constantine anymore, but I hope they could find someone suitable.

This is part of the reason I loved it. We see cool, hell-type stuff, but the film and our main character rightfully treats that shit like a burden, something you don't WANT to spend more than a few minutes in the company of.

In case it isn't obvious, I really hope this sequel ends up happening.

It's the superhero sequel I would look most forward too. More than Spider-man 3, Batman 2, Hellboy 2, or Superman 2.

I know. It's fucked up. But I can't help it. Constantine was a bucket of surprising greatness. And there's a whole lot of things they could do with the character.

A surprise most definitely. After the Matrix bullshit Keanue's name was mudd to me. I dug this alot. The curly-haired kid from the crappy Disney show was a fun sidekick.

Looks phenomenal on HD, by the by.

Crow, when you're right, you're right. For me, alot of the novelty of Constantine (and keeping in mind, that I'm just barely familiar with the comics) is that the character is embroiled in a supernatural otherworld, but treats it like just another blue collar job: He clocks in each day, kills some demons and clocks out at the end of his shift. It's genius and I welcome a sequel... especially if they can get Stormare off the set of one of his VW commercials.
