Nintendo DS games?

Thread Starter
I broke my arm 2 weeks ago, and since I can't play Wow (the cast makes it impossible to do anything on the keyboard -- I'm typing this with one hand) I bought myself a DS. So far, I only have Nintendogs and Brain Age. They're both reasonably entertaining, but I definitely want more games.

So, dear Chewers, I call upon you: what DS games are you addicted to right now?

I love me some New Super Mario Bro's, as well as Mario Kart and the new Final Fantasy remake that just came out. It kind of depends on your tastes. I have heard that the Metroid game and Star Fox Assault were good but took a little time to get the controls mastered.

Metroid Pinball is great! I still play it all the time.

You could play Elite Beat Agents with one hand.

Castlevania: Portrait Of Ruin comes out December 5th. It's shaping up to be one of the best games in the series, with apparently 7 bonus characters to play as, and a ton of other secrets. Castlevania: Dawn Of Sorrow is great, too.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney will own you. And if you dig it, the sequel comes out in January.

I don't know if you can do it two-handed, but New Super Mario Bros. and Mario Kart DS are also must-buys.

I'm thinking about buying a DS Lite, but now all my money have sank into Wii, so I won't be getting one until maybe next year.

I have heard alot of great reviews about Mario Kart DS. My wife's brother has a DS and this game, and he couldn't put it down.

Advance Wars: Dual Strike would be great to play one handed if you like strategic turn-based games.

I'd also second New SMB and Mario Kart... although I don't know if you could manage them very well with one hand.
Meteos contains more happiness and great times in its small plastic shell than you would've ever thought possible.
I second Advance Wars: Dual Strike. I blew a lot of my precious time on that one. Starfox Command is cool, but I wouldn't try it one-handed. A friend is saying good things about Trauma Center.
Thread needs a shitload more TRAUMA CENTER recommendations.

Kirby Canvas Curse is also really fun. And Meteos, Phoenix Wright, New SMB, Elite Beat Agents (I'm assuming, based on the original). The DS is great.

Has anyone played FFIII? I've heard good things about it in general, but nothing specific. Thoughts?
FFIII is a must own for Final Fantasy fans. The graphics are the best you are going to see on the DS and you can play it with the stylus if you like.

I'm about 5-6 hours in and while it is linear, it is very freakin' hard. 3 hours in and you'll meet Bahamut (how's that for hard).

This game will keep me busy through christmas.
FF3 is a great RPG, my only complaint is I hate how androgynous the characters look.
Well, that never goes away. The entire series has the most feminine male characters in games history.
Yeah I know, but latly it's been getting even worse. I really thought the main character was a woman. Not just feminine looking but really a woman. Good thing I only played with my balls after looking at her and didn't go all the way.

Explain this to me. I bought Meteos and I don 't get it. I love Lumines, I love Tetris, but Meteos seems boring. All you do is drag colored blocks upwards. I don't really see the puzzle or fun in that.

Obviously, there is something wrong with your brain. It is second only to Tetris in greatness in my opinion.

All you do in Tetris is rotate colored blocks.

I don't like Meteos or Lumines, so I also stayed away from Every Extend Extra. I want to like these games, everyone else has lots of fun with them, but I just don't like them.

Tetris, I love. I still need to get the new DS one.

Bump! Tried to find the Semi-Official DS Thread (I seem to recall seeing one at one time, but alas couldn't locate).

Bought one this weekend (along with Brain Age and Brain Age 2).

Recommend me some more to add to the collection.

Trama Center, Super Mario Bros are already on my list.

Resident Evil DS was pretty fucking fun IMO. Animal Crossing was a fun time for awhile. The Metroid pinball game was pretty fun as well.
Elite Beat Agents is pretty fun if you like rhythm games. Puzzle Quest is a must-own if you don't have it on another system.
Elite Beat was pretty awesome, forgot about that one.

I totally forgot that the 2 of you were an item.

Edited to add:

Thanks all. I picked up SMB (new) and Mario Kart last night. Adding most of these guys to my wish list.

Tetris DS is a must buy. Super secret tip: I get all my high scores on the crapper.
Man I suck but I'll blame it for now on the controls. Super small Mario? Annoying as f*ck to play.
I'll 2nd the Chrono Trigger love and throw out love for Picross DS. Both are great.

By the way, Tetris is the only one mentioned here that will be hard to find. It's currently OOP, and rare even as a used game. You'll pay a full $30 for it used at Gamestop.
