Munich DVD

Whats up with this DVD? Other than the shit cover. I cant find the 2-disc version anywhere, has there been a recall? Not that the 2-disc version was that great but at least it had a couple featurettes whereas the version available now has nothing except an intro by Spielberg, not even trailers!

I know its the old double-dip routine in motion but the apparent recall of the 2-disc and the current barebones condition of this excellent film is a bit weird.

I remember other people have trouble finding it when it was first released. I went to my local Best Buy the day it came out and was able to get it (although they had to go get it from the back), but it must be pretty rare. Can you not get it from Amazon?

I'm amazed by how difficult it has been to find, given the bare-bones nature of the one-disc version.

Just FYI, here's a link to the thread where we discussed (read: bitched about) the limited SE releases of Munich and United 93:

Thanks for the link. Buying a simple DVD in this day and age is such a fucking hassle. The last 3 I've bought have been boxsets, I dont even buy films when they're first released anymore. *stares at V For Vendetta* I dont want to stupidly deprive myself of enjoying a film though, so I'm still unsure how long to wait before I give in and buy the damn thing.

The same thing happened with Jarhead. I have looked everywhere for that and it's only on eBay. I got a 2 disc edition of Munich and United 93 though.

Luckily, I managed to score both Munich and Jarhead SEs off of ebay for a scant $15 bucks each. Go comsumerism!

I made sure to pre-order this when I heard it was gonna be a limited edition 2-disc set.

The extras weren't all that great, though.

I got screwed with the 2-disc of United 93 because I didn't pre-order it.

When I tried to order it through a 3rd party vendor via Amazon, they didn't have it, so I ended up cancelling my order after it never shipped after 2 weeks of waiting.

I was finally able to get the single-disc edition (pre-viewed, but in superb condition) from Netflix for $7.99 plus tax in October.

I still see the limited 2-disc UNITED 93 in stores now and then. Haven't seen the 2-disc MUNICH anywhere, ever. Fortunately, I got it as a gift..."fortunate" mostly because the extras on this release suck, especially for such a good film. The 2-disc edition isn't really worth the hassle of tracking it down and it seems Universal is revisiting some of their older limited editions, so I'm sure this one will be back.

considering the extras on most of steven movies I hope we will see more, I would just love a de Lauzirika doc on Schindlers List
