I'd agree that Bond is definitely the champ of the "Who's the best" debates. That said, I'd toss in Batman, and specifically Keaton vs. Bale, along with the villains in a solid second place.
I've seen Sherlock Holmes debated often too, albeit in a pleasant manner. Most Sherlockians I know are quite good natured and well adjusted.
