I've had one wonderful meeting with Guy about that very thing. He was someone I really wanted and I hope we can make it work.

I am now naming my first male child Cobalt.

These are pretty cool. Nice of him to do it. Only wish I had a damn question to ask.

Joe Carnahan is super sweet. This should definitely be an on-going feature with directors, writers, producers and the like. Well, I guess CHUD does take questions often but for some reason this particular rendition of the Q & A seems to be much more exhilarating.

Keep it up!

Saw the film last nite. Dug it. Lots.

But I couldn't help but feel that there were minor pacing issues with it. Anyone else feel that?

kind of opposed to doing a comic book film, especially since my favorite 'Iron Man' has been taken off the market by Jon (Elf) Favreau. Unless you're doing something like Snyder is doing with 300 or what Rodriguez did with 'Sin City' it seems like a moot point right now. There's a proliferation of comic book stuff and at some point, it's going to overstay it's welcome.
When they were trying to swoon romantic movie dude Casavette to do Iron Man, I said to a friend that you know, a great choice to do a great modern reinvention of Iron Man for the screen would be Narc's Joe Carnahan. Not too long after this, the idea kept growing and growing in mind and it wouldn't get out of there. EVen more that I could not believe why they were so stuborn in not trying to approach guys that were so good at doing genre movies. Guys with the right sensibilities to do them. Especially the idea of Joe doing Iron Man was so..perfect.

Knowing that he's such a fan of Iron Man makes me mad beyond belief. I love how the movie progect has turned out so far. But had Carnahan done this, I would have ran to the theatre on opening day.

Quite a loss of oportunity. And it's not over: for the life of me, I don't get why they're trying to lure the Nacho Libre director to do Captain America. Why not trying to get the best genre directors. Guys that already have a track record in that field. You want a great political movie with unbeliebable cool action? Paul Greengrass. How awesome that would be if they approached him for it?

After seeing the trailer before the incredible Children Of Men, my fiance turned to me and said "so THIS is the movie you want to see!?" I told her it was due to the director and I've been slacking as she's yet to see Narc. The last time I got burned believing in a director was following DJ Caruso from Salton Sea to whatever that steaming pile of noodles starring Jolie, Hawke, and my memory blocks the rest. Based on the chud-posted Q&A sessions, I have high hopes for this flick and can only imagine what MI:3 would have looked like.

Re: Smokin' Aces, Joe Carnahan Q&A pt2

In answer to Adrian from Dublin Question
"Also, rumor has it that a Dublin animation company did your opening sequence for the movie, true?"

Although as Joe mentioned, we at VooDooDog are based in London, My brother Paul and myself, who run the company are indeed from Dublin.

See the Title sequences at http://voodoodog.com (Click on Title Sequences kennel, then Smokin' Aces bone)

Adrian:

Voodoo Dog out of London did the opening and closing sequences.

Sorry man, as a fellow Irishman we're always dubious about the Brits, but I love 'em and they did standout work.

I'm very pleased Smokin' Joe is giving love to Ryan Reynolds, who I believe is hugely underrated and typecast. I'd really love to see them work together more in the future.
