Facebook Friends - Page 2

Yeah, I check Facebook a lot less frequently than I used to, for a number of reasons, the biggest of which is that I live where I work, and my work blocked all the big social networking sites.
Yeah, unfortunately I sent you the request before I started looking through this thread. When you do look through down the line and wonder who the fat guy with glasses is...look no further!

Just joined the group, and this whole Facebook madness.
Joined up a couple of weeks back and am in two minds about it. I've only added close friends so far. Bit wary of having complete strangers or even people I barely know, knowing my every movement.

Tempted just to delete my account, because most of the people I have on there I speak to almost every day anyway!

Facebook rocks. I was one of the first people to have it when UNCG first got it.

Facebook name: Evi Katz
Network: South Africa

Please be my friends.

I finally caved and put Moltisanti's quote (in my sig) as one of my favourite on Facebook.
I finally joined facebook a couple weeks back and just joined the CHUD group tonight.

I'm Bryan Hickerson in the University of Washington and Georgia Tech networks. I don't know who would actually want to add me given how little I post on the boards.

Can anyone get a high quality jpeg of the CHUD.com logo for the facebook group? I tried print screening it and pasting it into paint (the only art program I have) but I'm having trouble cropping it right. I'm (finally) updating the CHUD.com group's description and recent news so I'd really appreciate if someone could do that for me so it can have a decent logo as well.
Do you mean something like this.
Maybe someone from the CHUD staff could get us the high-res logo that the webmaster worked with.

Before it gets switched to the new

Updated the Facebook group (thank you Anderson for returning control to me) to mention Beaks, Micah, Vinton and the many people who review dvds. Also set up links to some recent greatness (50 disapointments) and classic greatness (Nick's Torque review). Also updated the logo (thank you Timo, for that).
I keep reactivating it at the behest of friends, but every time I do I feel sad, and fairly quickly deactivate it.

As long as I get to keep my puppet status of Commander-in-Jesus, we're golden.

This thing is like crack. Drinking and facebooking is the new drinking and dialing. My buddy just called and said he added 100 friends the other night — over served and under pulled.

Anything to the recent noise?

But when the system came out a week later, it actually gave less, not more, control over information. Gone was the ability to hide your friends list, profile pictures, fan pages and network membership from all strangers; Facebook's new, formal privacy policy explicitly made this information public (despite the ability to keep some of it, like the friends list, off your profile page).

Meanwhile, the social network is pushing users hard to share their personal content with strangers. Users are being forced to update their privacy settings, with most default choices set to "Everyone" in the world or "friends of friends."

Facebook's business rationale here is clear. Rival Silicon Valley startup Twitter has grown extremely quickly in the last few years, almost entirely on the back of public content — from celebrities, people's friends and users' professional colleagues. That has brought traffic, money from search engines and a $1 billion valuation.

Facebook wants in on that kind of growth, and more public content means more traffic.

I keep mine at Just Friends level of privacy. With the rollout of the new policy, everything stayed the same.
While this thread is bumped... would anyone happen to know who created the newer CHUD.com Fan Page?
Wasn't it Nick? I seem to recall his name on there. I asked what the difference was between the "Group" and "Fan" page, and the latter is for advertising/business purposes.

Yup. The changes only affect people who have their privacy settings on "Everyone".

What changed was "liking" people's statuses. Before i had it hidden. Now there's no option. And if i press "like" on someone's status, it appears on my page.
Just joined the Chud group. My silly ass was searching for "CHUD" instead of "CHUD.com".

I'm Eboni Leffall-Williams and I'm a friend whore. But a good one, because I will actually talk to you.

Same here. I've never allowed anyone but direct Friends to see my info, photos, etc.
I had to reset everything. And i can now see lots of strangers' pages and photos, presumaly because they didn't reset theirs.
It fells really dumb but what's the difference between "real time news" and "news". It's an option right above the page.
News only displays some of the shit that's being posted. What it considers the most important of the last 24 hrs. Real time will show you ALL events, as they happen.

I've joined some ridiculous groups (The Do It Yourself Hockey Sweater Group takes the cake)...so it was about time I joined the Chudpage.....Matt Burchfield. Feel free to friend me if I bloody know you and such.
There's a really derogatory line in the sand regarding which of my facebook friends clog their pages with farmville and yoville and shit that is probably giving them viruses. It's embarrassing to watch.
Yeah, I'm kinda stymied by this. I flat-out messaged a bunch of people with the general statement of "Do NOT send me this shit. I don't do it to you, don't do it to me. I've asked several times directly in my feed and people who even saw the feed and responded still sent me crap, so I'm doing this. Next time around the list is getting a hearty pruning."

I'm sure that if we gave the lines in the sand a little more scrutiny, they'd be in the shape of penises or Kilroy Wuz Here drawings. Can't win 'em all.
I guess my line in the sand comment was a nice way of saying "I found a really easy way to figure out which of my facebook friends are hayseeds/ghetto as fuck..."
Got it now.

...And yeah, the amount of applications someone has sent to me and the amount of time I actually converse with said person via FB seem to be inversely proportional. I know I'm not QUALITY, but jesus christ I don't want to collect fish or read Bible scriptures or take over Mafia territory with you, unless we're really staking a claim on some high-paying international bidness.

I have that "little green patch" application, but I rarely do anything with it. If you're someone I know well, I'm a little more lenient about apps -- I'll just ignore the app and block it, and my dad is one of these Farmville people -- but everyone else gets one freebie, and then it's an automatic defriend.
Obviously late to the party here but I'm trying to become a bigger presence in the CHUD community since 1.) it's awesome and 2.) I'm writing DVD reviews (and blogging if I ever stop being a lazy asshole) for the site now so feel like I should. And I think a lot of you fuckers would be fun to talk to outside of the boards. So if you'd like to be my e-friend, now's your chance: http://www.facebook.com/dan.benenson

I deleted my profile a week ago and it's amazing how many text messages and angry emails I have gotten from people I haven't spoken to in years who think I've defriended them.
Productivity has increased quite considerably, notably.

So that's where you've gone.

Ah well, we always have chud PM's.

If you want to get random invites to my company's events, you can add me as a Facebook friend too! Actually, I've got a few Chewers on there and you guys are great people. Wouldn't mind adding a few more film-lovers on there. Most of the film-related comments I get induce groans. http://www.facebook.com/jmhanania
