Are International Sports Fans Insane?

Every once in awhile, I read about sports fans overseas completely losing it and throwing some sort of riot in the stadium. This morning, Sportscenter covered another crazy violent outbreak before a basketball game in Serbia that injured six people. There are stories from athletes playing overseas of fans constantly throwing things on the court or field- in America they throw balls back, and in Germany they throw STEREOS.

There's also the troubling racism of soccer fans who are unwelcoming towards players of darker skin that makes me wonder- what is it with international sports fans?

You ain´t seen nothing yet.

After Figo (for the ignorant: soccer player) transfered from Barcelona to Madrid, people threw a whole fucking bloody pighead at him from the upper ranks. While in italy some guy tossed a scooter from the upper ranks on the pitch cause he took offense in the disloyalty of a player. How do you get a pig head or a scooter into a tightly secured stadium like Camp Nou?

Well, my theory is that you have evangelicals, we have soccer. Apparently people need something to go batshit.

You obviously can´t tell the difference between soccer and football.

The racism in soccer is troubling. ESPN did a big story on it this past summer before the World Cup. We've had some rioting in the states during celebrations, but European fans seem to have made an art form out of it.

Sooorry. Jeez, these Europeans lost their sense of humor long ago.

As an English soccer legend once said: "I am troubled by people who think that soccer is a question of life and death. I don´t agree. It´s far more than that."

So no need to say sorry, cause you have to come up with something else to mock me about soccer.

But what is really troubling is the steady rise of racism in european soccer stadiums. It is really a disease that keeps creeping forward. It´s hard to battle though. But you feel really bad if you stand in the stadium and if a black player gets the ball, some fucking racist retards have to "uhuhu" at this guy. Though the minority this is a way to fuck up sports for good.

Who was the cat that went over to the group in the stands and started throwing the sig heil out?

It's pretty crazy. I know alot of it is based on some crazy sense of nationalism and not racism per se but they can't differentiate between the two. And it's funny that these are professional teams and not national teams yet they still drive that kind of ire.

In the US, fans might riot if they loaded your favorite team with slow, fat white guys instead of the opposite. Is that racism?

It think that was DiCano who plays for Lazio Rom if I am not mistaken. This guy has not only once but repeatedly because "it is the traditional italian greeting from ancient rome". This cunt even has Il Duce tatooed on his arm.

But I think professional sports in Europe and the States have a completely different history to begin with. And please correct me if I am wrong because I don´t know too much about your big four leagues.
In Europe (soccer-) teams evolved over the last 150 years from elitarian town circles to local pride of the city phenomenons up until they are turning into buisness entities like Chelsea or Madrid. I mean there are 20 million active members to the German Soccer Federation (Germany has 80 million citizens) in tens of thousands of local clubs spread over every tiny village.
While in the States you don´t seem to have that but rather College stuff. And your leagues are franchise leagues, or?
So it is fair to assume that sports, and soccer in particular, have a very different social meaning in societies.
And quite a few of the smaller clubs that go under the radar are breeding grounds for organised racists, that are actively seeked out to recruit new members for their cause. And that can be said for England, Spain, Italy etc.
The irony of it all is, that since soccer has become a buisness phenomenon politics act hecticly to set up programs to prevent this...because its bad for buisness.
So yeah. Its a fucking problem.
