Hi,I'm still new.ishhh.
I've searched the forum but all I've seen are a few mentions of this wonderful movie.I showed one person this movie,he loved it,another person said it was one of his favorite movies now,my civics teacher wouldn't shut up about it,and one guy said he wasn't paying attention. That pisses me off.Anyway...I've watched this quite a few times and I really love it and prefer it to anything that came out in 2005.The more I think about it,the more I think about the simple story line of the movie and how it could be a problem for some people.Maybe I'm just making this post to justify my love for it,so anybody have anything to say about this flick?

Actually, I saw this film and was quite impressed. It was my second favorite film last year, and one of my favorite films ever now. Just excellent.

Are we talking about the Korean film? I adore A Bittersweet Life but it does seem to be a love it or loathe it kind of deal. It just reminded me of the old revenge movies from the 70s like Point Blank and Get Carter. Just nasty and bitter and mean. It also has this superb sense of black humour that runs throughout, the highlight of which has to be the gun assembly scene. I also think the shootout at the end is one of the most wonderfully choreographed things I have ever seen.

Okay, the shootout at the end is the best in years.Which is funny because the body count isn't even high, but every kill really counts.Take for example the people getting shot usually being in the same frame as the gun being fired,I'm not sure if this is hard to achieve technically, but not a lot of movies do it (ok,so old school John Woo has it but his movies didn't have the wonderful misty squibs that this had). Not to mention the fantastic sound effects.

Wow, I finally saw this movie and I have to say, it is absolutely phenomenal! Everything from the gunfights through to the to the lean plotting and love story is absolutely pitch perfect. This is just another movie that showcases how Asian directors are miles ahead of their American couterparts. One other aspect that needs recognition is the music - in my opinion one of the strongest and most evocative soundtracks I've heard in years. Just the thought that only a handful of Asian film-buffs will ever catch this flick makes me want to kick in my TV.

The whole section with the beatings, burying alive and warehouse escape was intense as hell. Capped off with a hilarious moment with two guys with shovels, if I remember correctly.

Nope according to Play.com Region 2 only.

The version I watched was region 1.

If it's from Red Sun DVD, it's a bootleg. I think Tartan also has the North American rights, in addition to the UK.

Huh. I was wondering why so many Shaw Brother sweets were showing up at Suncoast.

I love this film to death. The scene where he beats up the dumb kids who were riding his ass is great.
