Dutch has been running his weak little game on Billings all season. "Do what I say or I'll tattle on your vending machines!" Then this episode, he continued to treat him like shit. Billings is hilarious, and he orchestrated this one to a tee. Best payback I"ve seen on this show in a while, and if there's one thign "The Shield" does well, it's payback.

I get the feeling that Billings is going to keep going with the ribbing of Dutch and Tina even after all of this and then Dutch is going to go bat shit insane and choke Billings' cat to death.

I think we've found the one thing this season better than Billing's Greatness and Ronnie's Emergence....Naked Tina getting hammered. The best show on TV just keeps getting better.

Dutch looking in through the window reminded me of Will Ferrell doing the same thing in Old School. All they needed was for Hungry Like The Wolf to be playing. I could just hear Dutch now, "That's my song."

It was kind of heart breaking to see the look on dutch's face as he tried to comprehend what was happening. I think, in his mind, he had the Tina project all wrapped up and just one more bottle of wine was going to seal the deal. It's a hell of a thing to watch someone else hollow out someone you truly care for.

When my alarm went off this morning I jumped out of bed and screamed, "YES!!!!!!" My wife looked at me like I was insane. The excitement that is Shield Season Finale day just washed over me and I couldn't contain myself. I tried to explain to her the greatness that is today but my mouth couldn't keep up with the thoughts in my head. I stammered and some weird concoction of, "Vic vs. Shane...Armenians...Money Train...Naked Tina...Glory of Billings...Vending Machines...Cockmouth Acaveda...Casual Dutch...CASUAL DUTCH!" came forth.
She continued to look at my like I was mad (she was probably most concerned as to why I was thinking of a naked tina and a cockmouth, but I digress) and just rolled over and ignore my rantings. Alas, some people just don't see the good things in life. She is damn lucky I don't consider her disinterest an affront and that I'm not a student of pimpology....

I feel like I sort of fucked myself on this season by getting so far ahead and then not being able to discuss it for fear of unleashing spoilers (I wouldn't intentionally spoil it for you cats but I'm certainly dumb enough to do it unintentionally).
But I will say (and I make this comment regardless of having seen the season finale) that Shane is the show's best villain to date. It's the kind of character development that has to cook for five season before being so delicious.
A lot of people were telling Moltisanti to take down his Shane avatar after Shane murdered Lem at the end of season five. Well now I say, wear it proudly. Also, to quote Molti, "Goggins is so good, he deserves to be ignored by the Emmy voters."

I love this show. Just when I think I know where they're going, they go the other way.
I am glad Vic didn't exploit Aceveda over the photo. Even for a show this seedy, it would have seemed to go against Vic's "code". And I thnk this pretty much seals the deal as far as the whole "Will Vic go to jail?" question. He's buried the hatchet with Aceveda and seems 100% committed to doing whatever it takes to break this case wide open.
The season was transitional, which after Season 5 was probably necessary. It was cool, very enjoyable, but the pedal wasn't exactly to the metal. The stage is so perfectly set for a dynamite final season, so I'm pleased.
Billings will be missed, but I have to say, his exit was pure, well...Billings.
And Hiatt's exit was pretty much what I predicted. He can't hack it, so he gets a transfer. Clean and simple.
I love the irony of the show seemingly ending with Vic and Aceveda on the same side with a sledgehammer ready to take some whacks at the system.

Not a bad finale at all. My only issue was the Hyatt thing. I think he should have stuck around for the final season. Getting rid of him like that just didn't feel right.
I never thought I'd say this but: I don't hate Shane anymore. I feel dirty just thinking that.

I wasn't expecting fireworks, though I was sort of hoping to see Claudette go apeshit over having to keep Mackey. Deep down I guess she knows she needs him to keep the Barn afloat.
Not really sure where Shane's head will be at next season. I see him as Frankenstein's monster, he just doesn't know how to control himself. He got lucky tonight but sooner or later his number is going to come up. God bless him though, what a great season for the guy.
Nice to finally see Dutch get just a hint of action.
Billings will be back. It is his destiny.

Good episode, I guess. It had its moments.
If they were going to make Ronnie Vic's heir, then they should have shown that he could do the job. They had a whole season, and they finally gave Ron some good material, but they only glossed on his understanding of Vic's playbook.
I like the Billings disabillity-thing. I kind of want to go through the season on DVD and check out if he complained of neck and back pain or headaches. I didn't notice it, but if he kept using pain killers all season it would be pretty funny. Miss Billings.

It's like Vic found the warehouse at the end of Raiders in the trunk of a car. Can't wait for next season.

After the holocaust finale of season 5, it seems perfect to end this season the way they did. The last season will be a barn-burner.
I agree Billings will return, but...at the same time...it's an awfully good way to set up his own spin-off show, 'Billings'.
Imagine it with me, won't you?

That's my Billings!
Good finale. It wasn't the incredibleness (yes, that's a word) of earlier season denouments, but it was rich....filling....and extra creamy.
Highlights (other than Billings): Dutch and Mackey's bastard incubator sharing an intimate moment, Mackey and Aceveda looking through the treasure trove of blackmail material, and Shane's desperate attempts to undo the problems he's caused.
And, of course, being able to imagine Tina a thong bikini every time she takes the screen, courtesy of Wayden.

Good.
I loved Mackey's two timing of the two timing cruz.
I also loved him walking out of the review board. Classic Mackey.
I like that Shane is stuck inbetween being a good guy and a bad guy now.
I like that Dutch is finally getting some action.
I DISliked Hyatt's exit. Seemed cheap, rushed, and lazy. All of a sudden he decides to be a crusader and do some stupid shit like take down a gang initiation? That was really poorly done. Smelled like contract dispute with O'Laughlin (or whatever the actor's name is)
Looks like everything will be coming full circle with the Armenian mob once again causing problems for the strike team.

I liked the finale, and what it set up for the next & final season - plus, it's always nice to watch Mackey beat down a criminal. I wasn't exactly thrilled with the way Hyatt went out (Danni had Vic's baby, and nothing happened to Vic!), but his story wasn't exactly one of great importance. It just felt a little rushed, is all.
It's been great to watch Dutch get screwed over left & right with the ladies for what feels like the entire series, but I actually felt good for the guy that he maybe will have something going with Danni next season. Still, it was interesting to find out he had a shot with Tina, but never really had to confidence to act on it.

I really liked the Dutch and Danni kiss, because it was just two friends needing that moment. I think the writers like torturing Dutch sexually, so I doubt there will be too much follow through on this love triangle. Though, I would love to see where they could go with it. I also loved Dutch's reaction to seeing Tina. Just, done with it, here's how I feel, it's over. Which kind of worked for her, especially after she realzies she's been used.

The best part about the Dutch/Danni moment was how Danni cradled Dutch like he was the woman.

This isn't me griping on this particular episode, but it's an issue I have with the series in general (which l love lovity love).
Mackey walking out because he didn't want to use his kids to gain favor is something I get. And its in character. But it help shores him up as the ideal police-man archetype. The one that'll do everything to stop the bad guys but is just a decent guy in the inside. The show often talks about what a bad guy Mackey is but can anyone really point to anything he's done that is that morally corrupt? Outside of the pilot, of course. Which sort of re-inforces my point.
Mackey shooting that cop was an attempt by the show-runners to set the show apart from the regular cop show gruel by having a character that the audience shouldn't easily root for. But Chiklis often talks about people approaching him and saying that they wished there more cops that acted the same way his character did on the show. And the only actions they have Mackey doing are almost always motivated to help the greater good. I think the show would benefit from making the hero quality of his character a little more ambiguous.

I'm glad they found a way to get Aceveda back into the show. He hasn't had much to do the last 2 seasons. Should be interesting how he balances his career vs exposing the financial contributor guy.
Shane almost pulls a Mackey by getting out of the mess only to be turned into a bitch yet again. He's gonna have to kill a bunch of Armenians to get clear of this. Wonder if he'll let Vic in on this?

If you put into context the wait in time between seasons and the previous finales I'd have to agree I was only whelmed by the last episode.
They better get on the stick with the last season I do believe 6 is the unlucky number as far as tv dramas go, this was the weakest entry.

The finale was good enough, maybe a 7 out of 10. In all fairness, it's pretty hard to compare to last season's mindblowing finale. Now we just have to wait another whole year for next season.
One thing that seemed "off" was that by the end of this season, it felt like Vic wasn't very concerned about Shane at all, mostly focused on the case with the developer and all that. Now next season is set up for that angle, and Shane only has a sort of periphery subplot.

By the end of this season Vic was just doing whatever he could to keep his job. Shane took a backseat in his mind. Though it might have been nice to have at least one scene where the 2 butt heads over what Shane did to Vic's family,

I love that Vic took a huge risk by leaving his hearing and busting that guy on the street. It was set up as subtle, but when you start thinking about it he really put his ass on the line. I guess he didn't see himself coming out on top during the hearing.
Oh... and Dutch was so close with Tina! Damn you Billings! *shakes fist*

Billings will see the wrath of Dutch. It will probably consist of a dead cat on his doorstep, a kicked in vending machine and a slap fight with a crying man, but it will happen. The Dutch I know and love won't stand for this!

I thought the finale was alright. Not nearly as great as last season. But it could have been much worse.

The thing that bugged me about the finale was that the puddle of blood found in Corrine's house after the report of shots fired was never followed up on. No one questioned whose blood it was?

Ign has a Q&A session with The Shield cast & The Unit cast. No spoilers just the cast discussing working with Shawn Ryan.

Good:
- Developer plotline looks interesting
- Everything involving Dutch
- Wondering how Shane is going to get out of being over his head again
- Evil Billings
Bad:
- Making Vic's replacment completly incompitent. I mean he goes on the "Strike Team" and stops a gang initiation (because you know once its stops one can never attempt to join again). Thats like joining S.W.A.T. so you can get at those menacing jaywalkers. I had the impression from earlier in the season that he knew what the idea of what the strike team was about. Also didn't he Hiatt get yelled at two episodes ago for being too much like Vic? Now a complete 180.
- The apeal hearing scene. Ok, either go to the hearing or don't go, but none of this "I brought my entire family and now I'm off".
Lots of questions this season
- What will Vic do with the intel he has gathered?
- How will Shane handle being an Armenian whore?
- Will Billings be able to win his lawsuit?
- Does Dutch now have a chance with Danny?
- Is Claudette really going to just forgive and forget the Armedeo thing from season 2?
- Most important: Will Ronnie get a plotline of his own?

Well I missed the finale on tuesday, but I got to catch the repeat today.
I actually liked the slow pace of the episode. The trunk full of leverage was great, and I thought it was awesome of Vic to team up with Aceveda. The takedown of Hiatt was indeed cheap. They should have found a way to exit him better. I hope this isn't the last we see of Billings. He needs to be there during the 7th season.Shane is really in deep now. He should of just kept his damn mouth shut. I like where everything is headed with this war that is brewing. The last season is going to be fantastic. I wish it was already here.

After the amazing season 5, it was going to be tough for Season 6 to top it and it didn't quite get there despite many classic shield moments.
Shane's anguish at shouldering the burden of Lem's death was fantastic, Goggins delivered the best acting of the entire show, his confession to Vic was great and then he subsequently becomes a freelance contractor but he doesn't have Vic's aptitude for judging a situation and acting accordingly so he indebts himself to the armenians and makes things even worse. Shane's pretty much a loose cannon, running around kidnapping Vic's kids (Shane just sealed his own fate with that act), Mara has seemingly dropped off the face of the planet.
Vic's violent breakdown at the hospital was riveting, the blood on the hands metaphor wasn't subtle but it was still a fantastic scene.
Kavanaugh's arc was handled nicely, the final meeting between the two resolved it perfectly, Kavanaugh has accepted that he failed, he can live with the consequences, he knows Vic will fall eventually.
Poor Dutch, he got played by Billings along with Tina, I don't think Dutch will get any payback for that, he's just not vindictive enough, I can see Billings case against the barn not going anywhere, I think the final season will have the barn being shut down thus rendering his suit null and void. I did like the scene with Miracle Joe's nephew, so touching, it even brought Dutch to tears.
Vic fighting with the driver in the finale is a classic holy shit moment that the shield knows how to do so well.
I thought the finale was underwhelming but kind of the point, they were ramping up for season 7 which I'm very much looking forward to seeing.

Season 7 tops season 5 in my opinion. I really hope you've managed to avoid spoilers on the strike team's fate. Wait to you watch 'family meeting'.

Season 7 is coming out on DVD. But i'm still holding out for the series compilation. Don't know if it'll ever happen but i want the whole series on 10 dvds rather than just buying each season separetly.
