The Shield - Season 6 - Page 2

I heard that the 15 min short was going to be on budtv.com, so I checked it out--so far, nothing but a bunch of non-Shield crap.
I'd love to see the short. Do you have to sign up there at the site, or can you just view it whenever it appears?

Man, the premiere is just under 2 months away. That sucks. Thankfully this show is so awesome that I know it will be worth the wait, and none of the episodes will suck.
You do have to sign up for the site to view their content. I haven't checked for a couple of days, but it wasn't posted yet when I looked.

Last season was phenomenal, and I tell people all the time, that the season finale was the most shcoking and emotional moments of television I've ever seen. Utterly brutal, and I had this horrified back anbd forth in my mind as I saw Shane wavering between "do it" or "don't do it".

I think Goggins sounds like he really gets this show, but I'd disagree that he's going to be able to redeem himself. Killing Lem is a moment of no return, a line being crossed. The worst thing the show could possible do is try to minimize or move away from that moment. It will color every moment that happens from now on, and I don't think you're ever going to be able to look at Shane the same way again.

What do I want to see this season? The team cannot be brought down from the outside, that has been proven. Even if they must cannibalize their own, they will not go down. So the only option is from within, and I think this is going to be a slow, intense burn between Vic and Shane. I'd love to see Ronnie play a bigger role, maybe as the one relatively "clean" member left.

I'd like them to clean up some subplots. Julian and his wife, Dutch. Aceveda got dirty last season, he's tied to Vic in some important ways, and I'd like to see some consequences for that.

Is the word that this is the last season? I kind of feel like it needs to be, but of course, if it can remain convincing, I'm all for a longer run.

It's probably been said but I'll invisotext speculation beyond season 6
There will be a season 7. Ryan said that he really focused on Lem's death in S6 and felt the other characters were neglected
As for Shane being unredeemable-He can be. He did the same thing as Vic and we still care for him. Only difference is that Shane killed someone we've grown to love. That and he was wrong on Lem flipping but he didn't know that.
I still see Dutch getting his grubby paws into this. Dutch loves a mystery and can smell bullshit. Vic scares the crap out of him but he also hates and is jealous of Vic.

Vic vs. Shane will be the end of the show. And I have no idea who comes out of that alive.

I'd disagree that what he did was the same as Vic, especially within the logic of the show. Vic killed an outsider, who was forced upon the team for the sole purpose of being a rat and putting them all in jail. Shane killed an insider, one of "the guys", and a best friend. I'm not saying that one is anymore morally right or wrong, in the grand scheme of things, they're equally evil acts. But the show, and the team, most definitely seem to consider Shane's actions the more unforgivable. Keep in mind too that Vic was willing to go to jail for Lem, to take the fall for the team. That, again, makes Shane's actions "worse", by the morals of the show.

Claudette denied Dutchs' transfer so that he could investigate the murder. I think Shane is going to not only be dodging around Vic but Dutch also.

I bet the Dutchman will be all over this case. If he's not too busy slowly going insane.

Don't forget about him trying tap Officer Tina's ass.

That too. Although, wasn't he really apprehensive about her being rushed into being a detective?

Yes, but then he got that Pimpology lesson earlier, and figured out how to put it to use with her.

Ah, ok. Well, the Dutchman's been striking out with the ladies as of late, even the strike team was having a laugh at his expense when they bugged his car, when he went out on that date. Here's hoping that this time it works out for him, although something tells me that the cards aren't stacked in his favor.

SPINNING OFF THE SHIELD

Apparently there are talks about giving Dutch Boy his own show.

How could Dutch go out with Mackie's wife, and have that not be the pay off of that whole stinging his car thing? That's probably the biggest fault I've ever had with the show.

That may be the best news ever.

the "Hungry like the Wolf" was a funny pay off.
Yeah, but there's a camera in Dutch's car, and he was dating Vic's wife.
damnit, i need my best friends to make it big in tv so I can live an arrogantly comfortable life

Is that directed at moi?

I thought that during the season but The Shield has never been that predictable. Instead of Dutch being the joke, Vic would have been. And I can't think of a time when Vic was made to be the joke.
A Dutch man spinoff? I would definitely watch that.

The "Hungry Like The Wolf" singing bit was one of the most hilarious moments on the show. Of all of the supporting characters, Dutch is the one most deserving of a spin off.

The webisode is up! All you gotta do is sign up, which takes about 30 seconds.

I tried signing up using my real name, dob, and zip, but they say they can't verify my age. I'm off the grid, baby!

"Chicas gone Locas"

I've been catching repeats of this lately on Spike, and it's made me realize how much I've been missing Mackey and his crew. Can't wait for this to come back...

Thanks. But I tried it too and it didn't work.

i saw it. pretty damn good.

its still surprising to me how angry I am with shane. I physically want to attack him when he is on screen.

this entire webisode was just salt in the wound...and I loved it.
It's funny that this got mentioned today. I watched it earlier and I was surprised no one mentioned anything. Not that it was anything huge. One month and counting.
First things first, that Budtv site is absurd. I don't know how many phony driver's license numbers I had to give them before I was "accepted" but it was a lot. Then I click on "The Shield" icon and kept getting some makeover show. Eventually I got the promo episode.

I liked it. There was no blatant product placement like the ones for "24" always have. That footage should keep me going at least until the season 5 DVD set comes out. Good to see that this "prequel" will be part of that set.
I'm just gonna wait for it to hit YouTube. It's gotta happen eventually.

As much as I love The Shield, I'm willing to wait till March 27th to see it that way. That BudTV site was crafted by demons.
im really curious how the hell its designed to prove ppl are of age.

i had no problem registering at all, and wasnt asked for any personal information.

But i found the site to be quite hilarious as well. there was some soft core porn type setup playing when I finally got into the site.
The webisode is pretty good. Without really moving ahead any farther than the image in the FX commercial, it still recharges the tension before the start of the new season. My wife--who has always refused to watch The Shield--was hooked by what she saw too. Can't wait for this to get going again.

Got a friend's info to work, so I got to watch it. It was pretty great compared to other "promosodes" (24), and it was great to see the 4 of them together having fun one last time. "Old as in medieval?" On the down side, the screen was the size of a postage stamp with no option (that I saw) for a full screen. Still a great promo piece overall though. Can't wait.

When does this season start?
Tuesday April 4th I believe.

Semi spoiler stuff from tvguide:

Molti - looks like the 'Master of disaster' is back!

Question: What on earth is wrong with you?! FX makes us wait for The Shield to premiere the sixth season, and you let weeks and weeks go by without any new info? And you call yourself a fan?— Colin F.

Ausiello: Good news: I'm up to my chapped elbows in Shield scoop after watching the first six episodes over the weekend. Here are some teases to tide you over till April 3.

• Episodes 1, 2 and 6 rank among the best Shield episodes ever.

• Forest Whitaker's Kavanaugh makes his final appearance in Episode 2.

• Mackey doesn't find out that Shane killed Lem until sometime in May. (Hint: The episode in question was cowritten by series creator Shawn Ryan and directed by Shawshank Redemption helmer Frank Darabont.)

• Someone from Mackey's past returns in Episode 5. (Think Rocky.)

• The Strike Team adds two new faces. Well, only one of them is new — Aussie actor Alex O' Loughlin, who joins the cast as Det. Kevin Hiatt. The other one is a Farmington vet who gets "promoted" by Claudette.
wow...great scoops.

I hope I am reading this clue correctly and that we will be seeing a return of none other than "the king of sting", "the master of disaster", "the sunuva bitch!", "action jackson" himself Carl Weathers!!!
Don't forget "The Count of Monte Fisto" !!!

Although it would be awesome if Stallone or dare I say Lundgren had a part in the Shield.
I've been saying forever that Weathers needs to return. That is gonna be sweet.

I'm assuming the Farmington vet who is promoted to the Strike Team is Julian.

I read that Tavon may be making an apperance this season too.

I don't buy that. The Tavon storyline was buried. It's the one storyline on the show that always felt like it had an incomplete ending. I almost think the writers didn't know what to do next with it and dropped it completely, hoping we would forget about it.

But tell you what, that fight between him and Shane is still the most uncomfortable, violent scene I have watched on TV. Most realistic fight ever. Whew, just thinking about it gets me worked up.

Yeah, but the writers have done something like this before. They took a filler villain from season 1 and built an entire season around him later on. As I've said before, there's an entire sock drawer full of open story lines the writers have and they go back to it every once in awhile, so Tavon's return is not far outside the realm of possibility.
I gotta believe Tavon will show up at some point before the series concludes, maybe not in a major way but in some capacity.

A big question for this season still remains. What can we expect from Billings?
What I'd like to know is if Dutch starts getting really close to the truth will Shane attempt to kill him. In the end though, I think Dutch has to be the one to take down the Strike Team, that's how the series has to end.

I'm not really sure about Dutch biting it, but I'm pretty confident in my guess that Kavanaugh will bite one of Vic's bullets by episode 2.
I am not sure the Strike Team has room for "the gays".
