Last season was phenomenal, and I tell people all the time, that the season finale was the most shcoking and emotional moments of television I've ever seen. Utterly brutal, and I had this horrified back anbd forth in my mind as I saw Shane wavering between "do it" or "don't do it".
I think Goggins sounds like he really gets this show, but I'd disagree that he's going to be able to redeem himself. Killing Lem is a moment of no return, a line being crossed. The worst thing the show could possible do is try to minimize or move away from that moment. It will color every moment that happens from now on, and I don't think you're ever going to be able to look at Shane the same way again.
What do I want to see this season? The team cannot be brought down from the outside, that has been proven. Even if they must cannibalize their own, they will not go down. So the only option is from within, and I think this is going to be a slow, intense burn between Vic and Shane. I'd love to see Ronnie play a bigger role, maybe as the one relatively "clean" member left.
I'd like them to clean up some subplots. Julian and his wife, Dutch. Aceveda got dirty last season, he's tied to Vic in some important ways, and I'd like to see some consequences for that.
Is the word that this is the last season? I kind of feel like it needs to be, but of course, if it can remain convincing, I'm all for a longer run.
