TV Knockout - FINAL ROUND

Thread Starter
It comes down to this! Probably the last HBO drama you would have thought would have made it, both Matt Groening cartoons, two John Cleese creations, and Rod Serling's classic anthology.

Voting may begin immediately. No more than five posts per poster per day.

Unless we whittle this down to one entry before then, voting will end MIDNIGHT FRIDAY THE 22ND.

Don't we normally start the final round off with more points than the previous rounds? I'd be surprised if this lasted two days let alone until Friday.

Don't we always stop at the remaining top three in these knockouts? Damn this one is so disorganized.

Yes. And yes.

Well damn me for at least trying to keep the ball rolling.

I think the idea is to just continue voting until there are zero shows left....

Anyway, these votings are always suspect, since people will do anything to vote against a show that has one point remaining just for the privilege of knocking it out.

It's not you. My own discontent with this Knockout began with how poorly organized and scheduled the rounds were initially, and it only got worse from there. Your handling of the final round has been perfectly competent and appreciated but cursed with the inherited results of the previously FUBAR'ed rounds.

A shame, since a massive TV Knockout could have been fun. Very much NOT like this one ended up being.

I think the first misstep came in building the list from an organized, basically random list of TV shows that no one knew, at the time, would be used as the basis for a Knockout.
Yeah, that'd do it. And Twilight Zone--for shame! There's like four good episodes.

Okay, that's a little bit of duh right there.

Yeah I bailed on this after the first round. With a bit more forethought, this could have been a success. When compiling the original list, did anyone have any idea this was for a knockout?

If this ever happens again, there need to be rules. Nominated shows need to have some sort of qualifications, the brackets need to be smaller, and the brackets need to be organized with some sort of thought.

Like I said, the original list was simply a "CHUD's Top 200 _____ of All Time" thread, with people able to add shows as they pleased. The idea to do a knockout from it came about later.

Past knockouts were limited by genre (horror films, sci-fi films, comedies), and then I believe by decade, with the top three from each decade moving on to the final knockout. And the initial lists were all compiled by one person, so there were some omissions but at least a consistency of criteria.

Ah. I didn't know that. This was my first knockout. But I did contribute to the "200" thread, and I was kinda disappointed to see how this one ended up.

But the greaet thing was, if there were omissions, we were also allowed to nominate them for an extra wildcard bracket.

And I completely missed this one from the beginning.
