This show is FANTASTIC.

One of my all-time favorites, in fact. I was hooked on this show in my youth, along with Hill Street Blues. Those two shows are part of the reason I don't bother with cop and doctor shows anymore; in the ensuing years since their demise, it always feels like I've seen it all done better before.

It's funny that, after all this time, St. Elsewhere still takes flack for its final episode.

It's the reverse for me--I love shows like ER and House and the medical shows that are a little more fast paced, but clearly borrowed so much from this show, so it's a little odd at times, because it feels like I'm watching a copy rather than the source.

But aside from David Morse's very distracting 'fro, it's an awesome show.

That final episode is one of the dumbest ever. Right up with Pamela's dream season of "Dallas."

Also, very weird for me to see Mr. Feeny playing a giant dick, but very awesome, too.

Back in the day I loved this show like Rath loves West Wing. Maybe I'll start rewatching it. Dr. Craig remains one of television's best characters.

That episode with Doris Roberts as the homeless lady was just about the saddest thing ever. I mean, damn, that was rough.

Dr. Craig was fine on this show, but his voicing of Knight Rider made the car sound way too effeminate.

Not sure what season it's in, but David Morse has a great storyline involving a ex-cellmate of his coming back and terrorizing him. Haven't seen it actually since it aired, but I think the convict had raped Morse and developed feelings towards him and of course Morse is freaked out. Something to do with Morses' toddler son, who finds a gun and ends up shooting the convict.

Very edgy stuff back then. One of the favored doctors turns out to be a serial rapist. Mark Harmon contracted AIDS.

Denzel Washington was on the show for little while, not sure if he lasted the entire run or not.

I remember liking Dr. Westfall, I think that was his name, Ed Flanders, great actor. Alfre Woodard was good too.

The 70's was the decade of the sit-com coming of age, the 80's was it for dramas.

Denzel Washington was on the series for its entire run. I think the guy, even though he's got limited screentime in the episodes I've seen, is great. I mean, it's like the guy was born awesome.

And yeah, the late 80s and early 90s were a great time for dramas. Too bad I'm only getting into these shows now, as I wasn't even born when St. Elsewhere started.

There's a book I highly reccomend called "Television's Second Golden Age" that spends a lot of time on Hill Street and St. Elsewhere and some of the other great shows of that period.

Also, if I were Mark Tinker, I would want to punch Shonda Rhimes in the face every day I spent on the set of "Grey's Anatomy."

I was never a fan of Hill Street, I hate cop shows to this very day, although The Shield is awesome. I recognize what HSB did for the genre and for NBC, but it never wowed, too young at the time I guess.

Those were great times, I miss them, but there some good stuff, like anything else, in music, films, you have to step over the shit to find the goodies.

Well, it looks like this series has fallen victim to the same music rights issues that have plagued so many shows. This is my first time watching it, but I thought something was up when they replaced Springsteen in the first episode with a bad sound-alike.

Turns out they've gone back to the syndication track for these episodes, removing a lot of the songs and even--in one case--cutting dialogue where a character quotes "Instant Karma."

To which I say, bad form, Fox.
