I only just now realized Sam Raimi is in this.

I prefer the snickering gunman from Miller's Crossing, m'self.

After years of speculation as to who would play one of cinema's most anticpiated roles, upon watching 'The Hudsucker Proxy' for the first time, I had to admit: Sam Raimi IS "Marketing Guy Number 2." Forget about acting, he became that character.

And the guy he's standing with is Joel Coen, as I recall.

It is. This is why the movie needs a new DVD - I don't own it because the DVD sucks. I just happened to catch it on TV this afternoon, and I haven't seen it in full since maybe college.

How's it hold up? I haven't seen it for over ten years, but I used to love it.

It's great. Honestly, if it was released as is in theaters this year, it would be the second funniest movie of the year just behind TALLADEGA NIGHTS.

Chase's attempt to cheat on the exam is fucking hilarious. I also love Frank Oz's bewildered look throughout the scene.

I love this movie so much. It's just so funny on so many levels. I really need to watch this again soon.

It points out there is an actual way to direct comedy.

During a poli sci exam my roommate whispered “what does KGB stand for?” I completely lost it.

Bad Guy: "Every time you tell us a lie, we cut off a finger."

Chevy Chase: "Yours or mine?"

Isn't Terry Gilliam in this in the "Hello Doctor" scene?

This is such a hilarious movie. I used to watch it all the time when I was younger. It really needs a widescreen special edition dvd.

Really, a classic.
Not as remembered as often as it should be.

Listen, do you smell something?

And remembered wrong, it seems. That's GHOSTBUSTERS II.

Milbarge:"For God's sake man, show some balls"

Fitzhume: "I think it's a little too late to try and impress them."

I miss this Chevy Chase.

The best homage to the Hope/Crosby Road movies ever. Actually, it's better than half the Road movies themselves. I remember being surprised to find that's what it was. The trailers really buried that aspect of the movie.

Which is also remembered wrong, apparently, as I believe that line was from the original Ghostbusters.

Of course, it's been years since I saw Ghostbusters II, so they could have used it in that flick as well.

Additional of course, if you were simply being sarcastic by using a mistake to point out Andrew's mistake, then HA HA. (please don't mock me)

And let's not forget that this film offered us the first dazzling glimpse of Vanessa Angel.

This movie was on cable ALL THE TIME growing up. I must've seen it a dozen times as a kid and I'm still quite fond of it.

I caught the same showing Devin did, I believe. And took the opportunity to show my middle daughter the flick. Her response?

"Wow...Chevy Chase was funny before he was old."

Of course, he'd had a few good moments in Christmas Vacation which we'd watched earlier in the day. But still....

It has Terry Gilliam and Frank Oz in it too. That's part of the fun of the movie. A ton of directors make cameos and you get to spot them.

Thank God Devin made a mistake also, I come off 12% less stupid because of it. Ha!

I was confusing my 80's comedy lines of course. I think I was thinking of the Dick-fer/what's a dick-fer line.

Lot of nostalgia in this thread...

This movie has aged surprisingly well given the subject matter. I love the shit out of this thing. And a great Paul McCartney song at the end to boot.

Love the scene early on where Chevy is doing the "microphone cutting out" shtick, but the best part of that scene is the "information" Chevy is giving to the reporters, when he's talking while saying absolutely nothing. So great.

"I was probing for skeletal girth. It's a new technique. We mock what we don't understand."
"Yeah. Get on with it, will ya, I'm getting hungry."

"This is my sister. You can all have her. I hear she's very good."

"For god's sake show some balls."
"I think it's too late to try and impress them."

"Why don't you say it a little louder? We could open the window and you could shout it towards Moscow."
"Sorry. I--"
"It's not your fault, you're stupid."

"Sorry I'm late. I had to attend the reading of a will. Found out I got nothing. Broke my arm."

"You're not gonna give me some bullshit that you're dying, are you?"
"No...not anymore."

Ever see the video? Dan and Chevy make goofy faces while playing a keyboard. Genius.
I haven't seen the video in ages. Not until today, anyway.

Gotta love Paul's sweater.

On a more serious note, if you can think of any video babe tandem more formidable than Vanessa Angel and Donna Dixon, then you don't exist.

Nope, just the first one.

And I believe Bruce Davison is in there too.
