Indiana Jones 4 Starts Filming in June
Source: The Hollywood Reporter January 1, 2007

The Hollywood Reporter has learned more details about the Indiana Jones 4 production after George Lucas announced on Friday that the project is a go for a release in May, 2008.

After years spent in script development, the fourth installment of the successful franchise is set to begin production in June in locations around the world and in the U.S.

Although he has been developing other projects, including a biopic about Abraham Lincoln with Liam Neeson attached to star, Spielberg has decided the "Indiana Jones" sequel will be his next directorial outing.

"George, Harrison and I are all very excited," Spielberg said. "We feel that the script was well worth the wait. We hope it delivers everything you'd expect from our history with Indiana Jones."

The film will be produced by Lucasfilm Ltd. and released worldwide by Paramount Pictures, the parent company of DreamWorks. Frank Marshall will serve as producer, with Lucas and Kathy Kennedy joining him as executive producers.

David Koepp, who has wrote such previous Spielberg projects as Jurassic Park and War of the Worlds, wrote the screenplay that finally got the stamp of approval from Lucas and Spielberg. An earlier screenplay by Frank Darabont had been shelved when Lucas turned thumbs down on it.

For the moment, the title of the new film as well as its story line are being kept under wraps.

Although a spokesman for Spielberg said Monday that no casting has begun, Lucas and Ford have said that they would like to include Sean Connery, who played Indiana Jones' father, Professor Henry Jones, in "The Last Crusade."
Thats it then. 'Real' Indy 4 news and gossip commencing from...now. There goes one of the internet's most cumbersome little scoop rituals we've had to endure on site after site.

Happy New Year!

You gotta be fucking kidding me.

So fucking torn. Why does this have me excited?!

I'm torn too. Whether to read ComingSoon's copy and paste or this from three days ago.

Is the David Koepp news new? (Not surprising to anyone, but is that the first official word?)

I sincerely apologise if I am making an error - but its the fact that filming starts in June that dragged me to lift this from my mere gaze and plaster it onto our beloved site here.

Has this been mentioned? Or that Koepps script has been given the three nods?

As stated, sorry if it has.

On the other hand....

Cant be mentioned enough either....surely!?!?

People who don't read the front page should really just fuck off.

No, the article on the main page had too much snark to bother listing info like screenwriter and start dates. And your apology is not accepted.

Penance: read every article on the front page and count the number of times "I" and "me" is used. Off with you.

It's hard to write opinion pieces in the third person.

considering Spielberg's recent run, I have a small feeling this could work, and Ford and George need help getting it out of the system

and hopefully Williams can come up with something to add to the already great work he has has done for the franchise, especially as one consideres his age

In all fairness as was previously stated, the start date and writer hadn't been announced at the time of the article's posting.
Then send it as a news scoop. As we have been begging you guys to do for years.
I'm excited. I know I'm not the only person who wants to see the director of Munich and War of the Worlds make a movie about a 60 year old guy driving 50s cars and punching people, hopefully with jazzy bongo music, shiny experimental aircraft and commies.

Nick, are you going to have an aneurism if this opens against MEG?

I was incredulous at the lack of site readage. I don't care if this opens as Indiana Jones and the Better Than Meg on the same day as Meg.

I'm very happy that Devin re-used my masterwork:

Holy crap...I completely missed the Reaper in the background when I read that article.

But seriously...what's the advantage of scooping? Why can't we just start up a thread?
So not only the MB people can be privy to the news but rather all the people who visit the site.

And because the boards serve the site. Not the other way around.

Ok, answers that.

Thanks

I always read front page, nowhere..on any site ('cept Comingsoon).... did it say a start date, that Koepp had got the go ahead, the production details OR that its Spielbergs next directing gig.

I will submit the scoop in future - just worked out how to - but check the date and time, I retract my apology and think some people should reattach themselves to the planet a little more.

How does one submit a scoop?
Go to the 'submit scoops' link at the bottom of the main page.
It's not that difficult to find
I'd really prefer that "Lincoln" biopic.

Oh...

...right...

I might be one of the few who can't wait to see it. If there were any way to replace Ford with someone younger, I think the only person I'd cast in the Indy role would be Tim Daly ("wings", Storm of the Century). He kinda has that look and talk about hin that sort of resembles Ford.
