No, it's never said outright. But he's Satan. Even Stephen King doesn't spoonfeed everything.

I still think Viggo's the only Satan I'd happily follow into hell. Whether he was eating my still beating heart at the time or not.

I do love quoting Stormare's Satan from time to time though: "Busy Busy Busy Busy Busy!"

The nature of the beast is that it lies. As the very same Von Sydow says in The Exorcist in response to Father Karras's line about it manifesting several personalities: "There is only one."

A satan thread and Donald Pleasance is not mentioned? (The Greatest Story ever told).

One for the MSTies: José Luis Aguirre (aka "Trotsky") as Pitch in the Mexican film Santa Claus.

Stormare is fucking brilliant in CONSTANTINE. He's bizarre, evil, funny and strangely honourable. Pure grade-A Satan.

A-fuckin-men. By far the best I've seen. Brimstone got cancelled as it became actually great, killed by the friday night deathspot on FOX. Glover's Lucifer was charming and entertaining- until he got pissed. Those few time you were reminded of who he really was, and only his acting could convey that.

Movie-wise, like Ian stated, Peter Stormare takes the cake.

No, that was Satan's dad.
Satan was the green slime in the barrel.

I don't know. I didn't really get the whole Stormare thing. He just didn't impress me. As for Brimstone, I only saw a couple episodes. I liked what I saw, but I never saw Glover as Angry Satan. I probably would've like that. . .

Long time lurkers should never chime in unless they're correct, as it ruins the dramatic effect.

Satan Jr. was the green slime. He was reaching in to pull Satan through the mirror at the end.

Besides, who the hell is Satan's dad? I must be remiss in my understanding of Christian mythology.

It has nothing to with cristian mythology.

In POD, Satan has a dad, and Jesus was an alien....

The cylinder contains a constantly swirling, green liquid that is later discovered to be the essence of pure evil. Throughout the night, it begins to possess the students one by one and utilize them against the remaining survivors. After researching the text found next to the cylinder, it is discovered that this liquid substance is actually Satan himself.

The text also reveals that Satan is the son of an even more powerful force of evil, an Anti-God, who is trapped within another dimension. Satan possesses one of the students and attempts to bring his "father" into our universe through a dimensional portal, depicted as what appears to be an ordinary mirror.

None of that is shown or mentioned in the film as far as my recollection. Whether that information is from an original script, a John Carpenter interview, deleted/new scenes on a recent dvd, or just someone at wikipedia making things up I do not know.

Anyone with a DVD copy of Prince of Darkness care to confirm or debunk this assertation? My old VHS cable tape is no longer viable.

It's not wikiality, that's pretty much what 'Prince of Darkness' is.

Is my memory that faulty? I don't recall any discussion about aliens or Satan's father in another dimension. I do remember the term "Anti-god", but it appeared in a metaphorical sense implying a "Satan" type figure. No reference was made to Satan being the Green Goo, as that was an implied Anti-Christ.

Now I have to go buy the DVD and confirm it for myself.

I'm with Death Surge here. I've seen this movie five or six times, and I don't recall any of that crap. I don't know where all of that came from, but it wasn't the movie itself. Is there a novelization out there or something?

The film veers ever so gingerly into sci-fi with the explanation of E.T. Jesus and so forth, and the creature in the mirror is indeed referred to as the Anti-God with the earthbound "KY Satan" being his son, it's in the dialogue even if there is no direct visual reference; I recall Donald Pleasance providing the exposition.
