In case you were wondering if Penelope Cruz and Selma Hayek were hot enough to make this movie worth watching, the answer is no.

That's a shame. Must be wretched.

It's a very bland, stupid movie, but one scene made me smile (banjo tuning).

PG-13 for sexuality, nudity, and violence?

You see Steve Zahn's butt.

A truly squandered op, then.

I have yet to see a Hayek movie I didn't enjoy, and I suspect this will not be the first.

The only one that made me smirk was when Hayek was trying to learn how to shoot and just barely missed blowing the puppy away

Other than Cruz and Hayek doing pushups in the creek the film didn't come anywhere near realizing its potential. It's just a Diet Zorro.

So the verdict is avoid? I have really been liking the Luc Besson/Robert Mark Kamen action factory. They gave us The Transporters, "Kiss of the Dragon", "Unleashed", and "B13". The two of them together and no naked time? Not even any decent action sequences?

No nudity, unless you're into Steve Zahn. There's some OK action, but definitely nothing close to the level of those other films.

If you felt Legend of Zorro was too intense and too masculine, then this is the Mexican western for you. Otherwise wait for cable.

You liked WILD WILD WEST? Even if just for the titties?

I dunno, I saw one clip of them in bed together with enough breast action to give me a little chubster.

That is the one and only scene like that and it's not worth it. Rent Don't Move instead, if yo want to see some Cruz breast and Ask the Dust if you want to see Hayek. Both recent, both feautre nudity that isn't Zhan's.

So, I got sent a free copy of Bandidas in the mail, so I figured I'd watch it and write something about it.

Ya know what? I liked it. It ain't rocket science, it isn't trying to reinvent the wheel, it's just fun. I know a lot of people use that as an excuse to forgive crap (like stuff with Adam Sandler or Rob Schneider or Martin Lawrence), but here I think it's true. It's got two sexy mamas (Penelope Cruz and Salma Heyak) donning tight fitting outfits and parading around the desert shooting at things and robbing banks. If you turn your brain off at the door, I'm sure you'll have a good time.

Stalking around through the IMDb forums there are people saying it's bad because it's unrealistic and the dialogue is stupid and the acting is bad and it's cliched. Have these people been watching the big Summer movies lately? They're seem to be easily forgiven for whatever reason despite having much more money (this only cost $35mil according to the IMDb). This is much better than a lot of the films released in the last US Summer.

It's interesting to think why this movie was unceremoneously dumped by it's studio. I mean, they've got plenty to market - at least to young male audiences. As I already mentioned - Hot chicks in tight clothes robbing banks. If you sit down to watch this movie and can't see that it's a plain ol' fashioned popcorn movie then you deserve to be filled with rage and anger at the end. Go masturbate over that scene in Superman Returns where Superman lifts up a giant rock. That was much more entertaining! *drips sarcasm*

Bandidas is fun and I don't care what others say. Penelope and Salma have great chemistry and it really shines through. It looks wonderful, the action scenes are entertaining and well done and it's funny in places too. But, again, it's a movie about two hot chicks in tight clothes running around the desert robbing banks. If you can't see past that and want some deep and meaningful drama then it's your own fault for not liking it.

After spending an extended amount of time tackling the action genre with superb results ("District B13," "Unleashed"), producer and co-writer Luc Besson is looking for a change of scenery. Taking his to-the-point filmmaking formula to the western stage, "Bandidas" is a strangely entertaining action comedy that accomplishes a lot more Mexican fun and adventure than the last Zorro sequel could muster. It's incredibly inconsequential, buttery entertainment, but it'll surely put a smile on your face if you can find a way to appreciate its rambunctious spirit.
