But will Mickey Rooney have a cameo as the Toymaker from part 5? I must know...

What's the difference between this and "Santa's Slay"?

Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 is the best bad movie ever made. It takes all of the solid elements from the first film and shows them again in flashback form. The film is about 50 percent recycled material, and the other 50 percent is howl-worthy and amazing. I will never stop pimping SN,DN2. It's a movie CHUD viewers must watch, preferably in a large group with refreshments.

EDIT to actually not just rave for SNDN2 and comment on the remake. Unnecessary, but it is a formula that will probably earn it's budget back at the box office.

I loved the original. When he swings that ax & growls "Punish!", I howl. Never saw any of the sequels on the theory that you can't mess w/ perfection (not that Sn, DN was a "perfect" film, but it was a good, bad movie and that was as good as you could expect any of them to be). I've been willing to give most remakes the benefit of the doubt (you never know, one may come along that's good, like DOTD '04), but I'm getting a little sick of this trend. Enough already! I doubt I'll see this until a long time after it's been on DVD, if ever, for the same reason I didn't see any of the sequels.
