End of the Line, Buddy

Glad to see this on CC and CHUD.

I tried to pimp this movie last september since the director is a friend. Heck, I even made the trip to Toronto just for the fun of it with a gang of friends to help him promote it - dressed up as a religious nut.

As for End of the Line, it's great movie, made on a smaller budget than it would lead you to believe ( Maurice won't let us know how much, mut my personnal guess is it fits on credit cards or a loan.). The first hour is pure gold, grade-A horror. The second part is a bit weaker, with the religious undertone, but it's still pretty good.

Glad to hear some more praise for it. I told Maurice how I'd love to check it out, but unfortunately none of the festivals are near me.

Definitely a cool concept, though. There's enough crazy cultists (Jews for Jesus, Mormons, everyone's favorite "FREE STRESS TEST!" wielding scientologists) that accost everyone on the subway, so I can see them taking the next step.

I'll definitely give this a looky, love subway horror flicks.

But for all the real-life horror that happens every day in subway stations around the world, there hasn't really been a great horror flick dealing with it. The closest anyone's gotten is probably the few scenes in Jacob's Ladder, although lots of others have tried- like Creep, Red Shoes, etc.
not a Raw Meat fan, Alex?

Oh man you should have seen the face of the people in Toronto when we were parading around in the street.

All because we looked like mormons, yelling: "The End is Coming!" while handing out flyers....

Toronto people are so sensible...

Probably not technically a horror film, but a great subway film with weirdness and killings: http://www.chud.com/index.php?type=reviews&id=2229

You know, I've heard good things but have yet to check it out. What are your thoughts on it?

Not horror? Pshhhaw...

Good stuff, though. Thanks for the review, I must've missed it. I'm going to have to check it out.

Racking my brain the only other film that creeped me out about subways was Children Underground, which while it's a doc is pretty damn horrific.

I was at the Palm Springs Film Festival this past weekend (caught Pan's Labyrinth and The Host) and I saw that poster there. I won't have the time to go back and catch it, but that poster looked good hanging in that arthouse theater.

This looks like it could be highly entertaining.

Not that it's a huge subgenre to begin with, but Raw Meat a.k.a. Death Line is pretty much the ultimate subway horror flick. It's a really dark and dingy little piece about cannibals living in the underground train system, starring Donald Pleasence (who's weirdly funny yet solid as always) and directed by the great unsung Gary Sherman (Dead and Buried and Vice Squad). excellent, depressing atmosphere in this. the dvd has been out for a while now, I definitely definitely recommend it.

I think the director of Creep said Raw Meat was actually his biggest influence in making his one.

Fuck, I hope this doesn't have too many similarities with a script I've been writing off and on for the last few years.

In cases like this is it best to watch the film, or to avoid it and have plausible deniability? Chances are they have little in common other than subways and fucked up shit, but still. Just curious.
