Pick any J-Horror remake, plenty of ghost tales, Universal horror, silent era horror, 50's monster, some Hammer and some AIP Vincent Price (Poe, etc).

Notables:
Jaws= PG
Gremlins= PG
Hammer's Dracula Rises From the Grave= G! (beat that)

A loophole in your question also allows unrated films or unrated versions, though.

Day of the Dead was released unrated.

Troll
The Gate

The Ring

I think Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 was released unrated to theaters.

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer

I don't know about ratings, but I don't think he was looking for NC-17 or Unrated. So, as said above, almost all of the Japenese horror remakes.

How about some made for tv classics?
Night Gallery
Trilogy of Terror
Burnt Offerings
Also-
These were before the modern ratings were established, but would warrent a pg-13 at best.
Psycho
Carnival of Souls
Night of The Living Dead

And that space vampire episode of Buck Rogers that terrified me as a child.

The one where Jack Palance had glowing hands always scared me. Glen A. Larson was a Master of Horror.

Maybe I don't know what EVIL DEAD was originally rated, but Glen A. Larson created "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century."

And "The Fall Guy!"

The Haunting, House on Haunted Hill, pretty much most old Vincent Price films.
(I refer of course to the originals of the first two)
post #25 of 26
I believe "An American Haunting" was rated PG-13, as was "The Skeleton Key".

Well, out of the AIP (Corman produced) ones, about 1/3 are Unrated, 1/3 are R, and 1/3 are PG (judging from the dvd's I have).

There's also a ton of Sci Fi channel exclusives (creature features) that get their premieres on TV, but end up with an R or Unrated version on dvd.

CryOpenupthesky, did you prove your point to your friend? What was your point anyway?
