Well I will be more excited when he actually plays some football for the Galaxy. All this about him "arriving" is overblown to me. Get him on the pitch and let's get on with it. The spectacle in this case has become bigger than the game.

Although, I am getting really fucking annoyed at the sports radio DJ's talking shit. Fine, we get it, you don't like soccer. I laughed at the guy today who said no one watches soccer or can talk about it, then the first two callers he had on did exactly that. He quickly switched to talking about Mark Cuban taking over the Cubs some more.

Anybody else watch the All Star game last night? I made it long enough to see the first half and then feel asleep (this production is killing my sleep). Sucks Beck's will probably not play this weekend.

Of course, nice to see a star athlete on the field in a suit supporting everybody.

And the first goal scored was just beautiful in my opinion.

So was I the only one to watch it this weekend? More excited myself by the tie between the Fire and Celtic. Also, pretty happy the Galaxy kept Chelsea to one goal.

Sadly, I missed it as I was working Saturday night. But I did catch most of the All-Star Game (first one I've seen since 1999, I think) and watched Houston throttle the Fire a couple weeks back.

Nice to see San Jose come back officially, too.

My brother got a pair of seasons tickets for the Toronto FC, and I've made it to every one with him. I can't believe how much of a fan i've become of it all, though the atmosphere of the place makes it so damn easy. I've never been in such a raucous sports atmosphere.

I shan't be at the Beckham game, though. My father called dibs.

Well, this is certainly disappointing:

CARSON, Calif. (AP) - More pain for David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Beckham left the field in the 30th minute of Wednesday night's SuperLiga final against Pachuca after spraining his right knee when he fell.

"It's just gone from one thing to another thing," said Beckham, whose nagging left ankle injury had already limited his playing time.

"Maybe it's time for me to just say, 'I need the rest,' and get it right and don't come back until it's right.

Anyone watching the Women's World Cup? Nice way to start my mornings right now. Some football before I leave for work.

Nope, those 5 am wake-up calls aren't happening. Not that I wouldn't mind, since Abby Wambach is revered around these parts. At least during the 2002 World Cup, they were replayed later in the day on ESPN, not ESPN Classic. (I could tell you stories of what lengths I went to not finding out the scores, and the unfortunate souls who ruined those plans.)

As for Becks, that's certainly disappointing. I'd lay blame with Alexi Lalas for trying to retool so much on the fly, and MLS for backloading the schedule to impossible lengths. Perhaps next year's schedule won't be so bad...

I might make it out downtown for some USL playoff action on Sunday, schedule permitting. We'll see.

The games come on as I am leaving for work in the morning, so it is a nice way to start my day.

I am more interested in next season with the MLS right now and seeing who they can attract in the off season. Also, my main team the Chicago Fire has played like crap most of the year.

Yeah, I might catch some of the Nigeria game since it's on at the not-completely-awful time of 8am.

Most of the year, sure, but since Blanco's arrived, they look like they could put a scare in someone come the playoffs. We'll see.

I think next year will probably be better all around for MLS. Beckham should be healthy, the schedule can be allowed to be normal with 14 teams. It would be nice if they adhered to FIFA international weeks, though. The fact that there was an MLS game on at the same time as US-Brazil is stupid for lots of reasons.

Do you think the problems Becks has had might scare away more international players? Would a guy like Zidane (theoretically) put up with a schedule like that?
