D&D on DVD

While getting ready to leave work I happened to see that the old Dungeons and Dragons cartoon was out. The case looks nice has a LOTR EE look to it. One of the extras is a radio verison of the never animated last episode. Has anyone bought it yet? If so what do you think.

I haven't seen it, but I have read a very positive (and nostalgia influenced) review. It was released by BCI Eclipse, who has produced a lot of impressive season sets for other animated series lately. I was never really into that series myself, so I don't think I'll be picking it up.

I used to love this old show. I figure that when I eventually get around to buying these DVDs when I decide to have children. I'll make sure there's enough animated shows that I used to watch on DVD so they'll never have to watch the shit that's one nowadays. I do know that I saw D&D on TV a couple of weeks ago so I think some channel is replaying the old episodes. What I want on DVD is the old Ghostbusters cartoon. I think it was called "The Real Ghostbusters".

The other Ghostbusters series is getting a release, also by BCI. The "Real" series is owned by Sony I think, and they don't seem very interested in releasing old animated properties.

The D&D cartoon is one of those things you could only love if you were a kid when it was running. From an adult point of view, it was just dire.

Every generation thinks the cartoons that ran in their day are far superior to "today's crap". Thus the reason I don't like this show. I'm old.

Then again, I was an adult when The Real Ghostbusters was on, and that was a great show. So there are always exceptions, I guess.

FOX re-aired this show on their Saturday morning line-up around the time that live-action movie of the same name was released. I checked in to see how it was and they removed the opening narration. Cocks!

Always dug this show. It was done about as good as any show was in those days.

I will fight any sack of shit who defends "Pokemon" as anything other than ass cancer.

I watched a few eps and while its funny to hear Willie Ames, the show was pretty poorly put together. Somewhere on the web, (I'd look it up bt I don't feel like it), is the script for the conclusion of the show. Apparently, it was supposed to be renewed, but cancelled at the last minute so the final ep was never produced.

Sadly, the main selling point for me was the 3rd edition sourcebook it comes with that has game stats for all the characters. That was almost enough to get me to buy it right there.

I do love how the packaging looks like the old Dungeons and Dragons boxed sets though.

I get that. I'm 30 right now and I did catch the replay of the show on TV recently. I saw what you mean about the show being dire. I just figure that I when I have kids I can entrust in them the same dislike, NO LOATHING, I have for most modern kids cartoons. At least the old cartoons will help me to vet any of the shit I come across on TV nowadays.

Naturally nostalgia plays a big role in one's enjoyment of any entertainment property, especially stuff for young audiences. If most of these older shows were on TV today I'd likely pay them little heed, but the power of nostalgia compels me to snap them up on DVD.

Not D&D though. For my swords and sorcery fix I'm still waiting (and waiting...) for a release of Thundarr the Barbarian.

Now you're talkin'.

Thundarr does rule. Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle beats them all straight to hell and back however.

Pirates of Darkwater is now on my, please release on DVD now, list.

I dig what you are saying. Every kid should watch the Looney Tunes.

Bugs: "I wouldn't Throw this lit match in this oven if my good friend Mugsy was in there, would I?"

Old Irish Cop: "Ya might, Rabbit, you might."

Best Bugs ever.
