World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade - Page 2

I was determined to get my character up to 60 as soon as I could, so I could see the Outland but I got distracted again fooling around with the new races. The Blood Elves' starting area is phenomenally well designed. It just shows how Blizzard has applied all the experience they have gathered so far to make WOW even more polished than before.

And as for the Draenei? The fucking Kessel Run? If that's not awesome I don't what would ever be.

area 51 is hilarious. Stormspire rules too, just because it's located in a bio dome. I need to devote some serious time to hitting 70, I'm starting to get lazy.

So I hit 20 today with my Draenei/pally and was a bit let down. In City of Heroes when you hit 20 you got to do a quest for your cape, nothing of the sort for WoW, unless I'm missing something. Still an awesomely fun game but I would have liked something memorable to do at 20, especially since from what I can tell 40 is where you get the next(first?) special rewards for a level. If I'm wrong and missed something please let me know, I am functioning on little sleep so it's possible I missed something.

**Just to be clear, I still love the game, especially the expansion. I was just let down a little.

I seem to recall you got a quest for a badass pally hammer around 20. But that was like a year and a half ago I did that. Check with the pally trainer in the cathedral in stormwind. He might have something for you.

there are several class specific quests that pop up when you hit certain levels.

I know warriors have a bunch.

That's correct. It's actually a pretty huge quest. It literally takes you to the four corners of the world, gathering materials form dungeons and elite mobs. With them you get very good two hand hammer made that can last you to your mid thirties. It's very fun especially if you have a few friends to take along with you. If you mostly solo you have to wait a few levels before you can try it.

Ok so I didn't try this quest that you mentioned mainly because I started so far away from that location and I always end up questing where ever I'm at. I will say that I've gotten past the let down of not feeling like 20 was a big deal and I'm about to hit 30 now. There's one thing I'm curious about. I go to the WOW forums looking for hints about different things and all I see is this.

"You need a +3% Enc AoE with a proc spec'd mesawhosawhatsits, that with your proto rally meta carny gear should get you macdaddied to the hemo-recto stasis. Got it?"

Of course I have no fucking clue what the guy just said and all I asked was whether I should take talents in the Holy, Protection, or Retribution for my pally. I guess my question is this, do I need an advanced degree in mathematics to continue to play this game or can I kind of "wing it" along the way.

Talent trees all come down to how you want to play your character. Putting your talent points gives your character more proficiency in that certain tree. It's like picking a major--depending on your area of study will depend on what you can use it for down the road. For example, as a rogue I specc'd Subtlty. As such, I can sneak around almost totally undetected as well as set up targets for some major ninja hurting. If I had gone Combat, I'd be unstoppable for in-fight damage and be able to unload a ton of regular melee damage. Assassination spec gives me an edge with poisons and stuns. Every tree in every class gives you more strength in certain areas; it's up you to pick which tree you want to go with (and how far into the tree you'll want to go).

Yeah I get that but I guess what I should have asked is can I maintain my enjoyment of the game without having to sustain a large compendium of abbreviations in my head. Can I continue playing without catching grief if somehow I am spec'd "wrong."

I like to play my toon as is, but I hear (especially with Paladins) that later in the game how I have my toon set up may begin to be an issue if it doesn't fit some mold that others in the game like. I guess I shouldn't care but if I'm going to have to re-spec later I'd like to know now. Or is all the hub-bub just a few crackpots on a forum?

I hate this attitude. If you've made the character the way you want them to be, you're not doing anything wrong. I like having my paladin use a shield and a one-handed weapon, and I have people tell me I'm not playing it right since I'm not using a two-handed weapon. You know what? I'm having fun, and last time I checked, they don't declare a winner at some point and shut the game down.

you can always respec at any pally trainer. it costs gold but, it helps if you decide you want to switch to a spec that's better for raiding or something.

I was a 2h Arms warrior up until I hit 60 and then respecced to a protection class so I can better handle aggro.
