Someone explain the Weinsteins to me.

Looking over their recent batch of releases, nothing emerges as being that stellar or even that much of a hit. To the awards-hounds that they are, why push shit like Black Christmas and Pulse while Miss Potter opens on 29 freakin' screens.

Now, I'm not saying that Miss Potter is some great masterwork that's being cruelly withheld from the public (although I really wanna see it), but it seems like they just released it to get Lemon Lips that perfunctory, pointless Golden Globe nom. and now can't be bothered. Am I to believe there's not a place for a gentle, short little period piece somewhere in the current line up of movies?

That the Weinsteins picked up distribution of the new Todd Haynes movie is looking worse and worse everyday. I think they really hate movies.

Hell yeah I want Miss Potter. I enjoy the Merchant/Ivory and Masterpiece Theater experience...they are usually pleasant, literate films that feature gorgeous footage of the Lake Country. I won't apologize for liking simple little period pieces. That and Ewan McGregor's pornstache.

Get outta here! This board's for horror!

Kidding.

Funny timing on this, cause I just got a press release for 3 Genius/Weinstein horror flicks coming out on dvd on the 30th. One starring Peter Weller and featuring an amazing cover-

Yes, it's about killer lions.

Alex, you rock.

"Bridget, look to your left! Your other left!!! Can't you smell it??? See, your left hand makes an 'L' if you put your fingers.. The lion... it's right... nevermind."

Gotta love the tagline, "Out here you're the endangered species."

I swear I've seen that used before on another Animal Attack flick.

Here tis... One of Deep Blue Sea's:
Welcome to the endangered species list.
and
Bigger. Smarter. Faster. Meaner.
and
How fast can you swim?
and
Your worst fear is about to surface.

I always like this one...
Lake Placid: You'll never know what bit you.

And the Jaws: The Revenge tagline:
This time... It's personal.

I took the insult to my intelligence this movie turned out to be (thank God I saw it on cable & didn't pay for that ass rape) VERY personally.

How the hell did this get in the Creature Corner thread? I'm sure I posted it in the Catch-all.

*shrugs*

Don't worry, I'll try and steer it in the right direction.

Why the fuck did they totally fuck over Feast, giving it that silly ass release the weekend before it's DVD street date? This movie was so much better than it had any right to be, and is damned better than the majority of the horror crap that Dimension/Weinsteins usually release.

Sorry, finally got around to seeing this, two whole years after Project Greenlight, and really dug it. I know that this is old news, Nick has been harping on it for a while, and it's been on video since October.

Basically, my point is, fuck you Weinsteins.
