Arrested Development Knockout

So I've been doing AD marathons recently to introduce my beloved show to some friends who have never seen it and was reminded of how many just truly great characters there are. So what better way to establish who's the greatest AD character of all than by having a knockout?

Below is a list of characters I'm thinking of including. Please feel free to suggest others, as well as give advice on how I should split up brackets. I was just going to pull names out of a hat, but maybe a more systematic approach is called for (e.g., primary vs. secondary characters).

George Sr.
Lucille
Michael
George Michael
Gob
Lindsay
Buster
Tobias
Maeby
Annyoung
Oscar
Narrator
Ann
Steve Holt
Lucille II
Uncle Jack
Kitty
Barry Zuckercorn
Bob Loblaw
Mrs. Featherbottom
Sally Sitwell
Stan Sitwell
Rita
Marta 1.0
Marta 2.0
Maggie Lizer
Gob's wife
Lupe
Mr. Veal
Mrs. Veal
Ice
Cindi Lightballoon
Tony Wonder
Gene Paremsan
Beth Baerly
Wayne Jarvis
Tom Jane
Carl Weathers
John Beard
J. Walter Weatherman
Franklin
Starla
Warden Stefan Gentles

I want to get the list settled this weekend and we can start the Knock Out Monday morning if people are interested.

Come on!

Don't bother with the list. GOB is all you need.

EDIT: Smeagol here.

Agreed, although Tobias is a somewhat close 2nd for me.

Yeah, I'd find it very hard to vote any of them off. All the characters were amazing and played pretty much perfectly by all the actors.

I think Martin Short's Uncle Jack is one of the most insane characters ever conceived of for television!

Gob is an obvious choice, but the subtly of George Michael's comments/looks or the absolute absurdity of, say, Uncle Jack are what brings this show miles above the average sitcom. I want to give props to the unsung heroes. I have had people tell me Micheal is boring, whereas I think he's one of the funniest characters on the show (Her?!). Maybe it's the recent marathons I've done, but there's a lot of funny that goes beyond Gob doing a chicken dance and fucking up magic tricks, er, illusions (tricks are what whores do for money...or cocaine).

Buster (as long as he has the Sword of Destiny)
GOB is easily the most consistently funny character, and has just as many subtle comedic moments as he does overt. If anything, the fact that he does so many obviously funny things overshadows the little things he does, which makes him a character to appreciate more and more each time you watch him.

Regardless, it's lame to bother with one-off characters in this discussion as they're nowhere near as worthy as any of the main characters.

This quote ends this discussion as far as I'm concerned...

"We're going to need a lot of capital. Beads aren't cheap...Are beads cheap?"

I love the show to death, but The Magician named GOB has to win. Plus his theme song is "Final Countdown" by Europe. but there all amazing characters.
It's hard to do this list because every character was a classic (although I never really cared for Uncle Oscar). Gob is of course the obvious pick, but Buster really gave him a run for his money in later seasons.

"Alias is a show about a spy."

I will always love the Narrator first and foremost, because I love me some hilarious meta-humor.

"Okay, Opie?"
"Jesse had crossed a line, and had better watch her mouth."

Carl Weathers: "It's a wonderful resturant"
Narrator: "It sure is!"

"Real shoddy narrating. Just pure crap."
"And that's how you narrate a story."

I wouldn't particularly classify that meta-humour as hilarious. It's merely 'cute' to me.

I chose characters that were in more than three episodes so they aren't one-offs. But mainly they are there to allow more points in the game so were aren't just shuffling points back and forth from Gob to Buster and back again. Also, I mentioned doing brackets with the main characters in one and secondary in the other. I think the second bracket would be the more interesting knockout because there are so many great secondary characters.

GOB still wins no matter what. This thread has made that even more obvious.

EDIT: Marta '1.0' was in more than three episodes? So was Uncle Jack (who many, including you Diva, have suggested be included)? Tom Jane? Beth Baerley? Mr and Mrs. Veal? I apparently could go on for much longer on this.

And where's the surrogate? He had more to do than Ann's parents.

I'm casting my votes for Franklin.

The worst audience participant that Cirque du Soleil has ever had!

Which is essentially voting for GOB.

Once again, GOB is cleaning house before it even begins.

Smeagol's manhood is being offended by the mere thought of this knockout. For this reason, it must happen and I will do everything in my power to negate his votes for GOB.

Hahahahhaa so you're sabotaging the integrity of your own stupid fuckin' knockout? Have fun. My work is apparently done here. Thanks doll, you're always good for a laugh.

Integrity in a Chewer knockout? Is there such a thing? Anyways, I don't think GOB is the funniest so your theory doesn't work, my friend.

What? My theory is that GOB will dominate, and he already has. I didn't say moronic cunts who have occasional lapses into good taste* like GOB, otherwise you'd have a point.

*like enjoying Arrested Development no matter the circumstances surrounding their purchase of the second season on DVD.

You really need to get laid, dude. Or have some candy beans. Anything to calm the fuck down. It's an internet game, not an affront to your very existence.

You clearly can't handle my criticisms so you have to play cute little cliches like that instead of actually responding to them. Your knockout was ill-conceived, and the winner was clear from the very beginning. Can't handle those facts? Not my fuckin' fault.

I think perhaps you should stick to what you know best: discussing celebrity tit sightings and your own sexual attitudes as if everybody should give a shit. I can't imagine anyone ever having heard enough of that stuff from you and the people that listen to you are degenerate enough to not catch the misuses of logic and language.

Smeagol, chill. We're here to love "Arrested Development". And each other. Sweatily.

Smeagol, your "criticism" was that we shouldn't play this game because GOB will win. That's not fact, that's just your opinion. I responded by saying, let the people decide. You can either play the game or don't. No one's interested in your machismo posturing.

Edit to respond to your bitchfest about "one-off" characters: My originial intention was to start out with characters that appeared in 3 or more eps and realized that didn't give us enough people/points to play the game. So I added folks that I thought were interesting or stood out to me. Again, it's just a game dude. Chill.

Wow, knockouts can get ugly and usually resort to name-calling when someone's favorite is knocked out. But.. before it even starts!!

I agree Smeagol, just chill.
