CHUD Fantasy Baseball 2007 - Page 2

I plan on being bottom 5 for SB but hopefully I'll have a shot to stay competitive year round.

C-Barrett
1B-Konerko, Overbay, LaRoche
2B-Sanchez, Kinsler
SS-Hall
3B-ARod
OF-Sizemore, Rios, Hunter, Scott, Rivera

SP-Carpenter, Zambrano, Verlander, Garland, Maine, Snell
RP-Street, Saito, Otsuka

Probably need another save guy but just gotta be quick on the waivers.

Missed the draft but I got a decent fuckin-A team. Pitching is better than I could have imagined.

Way to go, automatic drafting.

Loving the new "drag and drop" roster on Yahoo!

Someone picked up Utley before Reyes? What pick were you? I was toying with picking Reyes first pick (but I couldn't deny the Pujols). You should be very happy with Reyes. He'll give you 70 steals, 20 homers, 75ish RBIs, 100+ Rs, and at least a .300 batting average. Also, 2B has way more depth than SS, where Reyes is easily the best player in the league.

For the record, in our league Utley went 14th, which I still think is way too high (he hasn't gone before 25 in most leagues I've been in).

C-Michael Barrett
1B-Albert Pujols
2B-Ian Kinsler (Picked up after everyone else got their second basemen. Probably my steal of the draft.)
3B-Garrett Atkins
SS-Jimmy Rollins
OF-Matt Holliday
OF-Hideki Matsui
OF-Alex Rios
Util-Paul Konerko
Util-Adam Laroche (Surprised no one picked him up earlier. Sure, being in a bad lineup means he’s people will pitch around him, but I think he has the talent to still put up good numbers)
BN-Ryan Freel
BN-Chris Duffy

All my core guys have good-great averages. My bench guys don't hit as much as I would like, but they're speedy enough to make up for it.

SPs
Roy Oswalt
Brett Myers
Dan Haren
Cole Hamels
Andy Pettitte
Javier Vasquez
Tom Glavine

RPs
Todd Jones
Francisco Cordero
Johnny Broxton (Saito won’t make it through the whole season)

And Nick, what's with Francouer love? I know he plays for the Braves, and he's good, but not that good. I mean, he's too injury-prone to have in all of your leagues. Is there some major buzz on him around Atlanta heading into the season or something?

Francouer has never been injured. I have paid a lot of attention to him and the one thing lacking in his game; pitch selection, has been improved. He hit 260/30/100 last year. I expect 270/35/100 and 10 steals this year. Them's good fantasy values.

Since when is drafting a player in the 17th round thinking he's that good?

He drafted him 12th in the other two drafts. I think that particular draft was a fluke.

270/30/100 is fine for an outfielder. Also, I'm a season ticket holder for the Braves this year and I need someone local to have added reasons to cheer for.

I think I'm anticipating Kevin Kouzmanoff the most. Perhaps it is too much of the Paul DePodesta/San Diego Kool Aid. But, with Bill James forecasting a .553 slugging, and BP chipping .516, I'm a little enthused.

c - Joe Mauer
1b - Lance Berkman
2b - Dustin Pedroia
3b - Bill Hall
ss - Carlos Guillen

Your mad SS has ten times the depth of 2nd base. After Utley there really isnt anyone you would even pick in the top 100 if you didnt have to use the
2nd base spot.

I feel good about my team in CHUD #2

Mike Piazza-C ( I feel good about this one if they keep him listed as a catcher. He will mostly be DHing which means a lot more games than normal at that position)
Miguel Oliva as his back-up

Albert Pujols-1b
Josh Barfield/Ray Durham-2b
Aramis Ramirez-3b
Miguel Tejada/Edgar Rentaria/Orlando Cabrera-SS
Vernon Wells-OF
Bobby Abreu-OF
JD Drew-OF
Craig Monroe-OF (I'm not sold on my outfield-I'd like to add one more piece via waivers)
Jim Thome-Util (I got a steal on this masher-middle round pick he was)

Jeremy Bonderman-SP
Andy Pettite-SP
Dontrelle Willis-SP
Josh Johnson-SP
Tim Hudson-SP
Jose Contreras-SP
Trevor Hoffman-RP
Jason Isringhausen-RP

I'm not blown away with my pitching, but I don't feel bad about it either. Especially with the way a fantasy pitching staff can become a revolving door.
At least I don't have to worry about dropping to the bottom.

Completely clueless with strategies.
it's early but AROd is hot in very cold weather-4 hr, 11 rbi, .421 BA
Pujlos, not so much. 0 hr, 0 rbi, .059 BA

Glad I'm off to a fast start. Be even better if Grady Sizemore wasn't getting snowed out.

Well, I'm fighting to stay out of the basement again this year.

If my hitters wake up, I think I should do well. However, it seems that if one gets too far behind, it gets close to impossible to catch up.

Question...

I'm in a league right now where I need a catcher and I need to free up my Utl slot, so I'm offering Justin Morenau around (I already have Ryan Howard around, though I'm none too confident of his helth). Provided Howard is healthy, I've been looking to package Morneau and a pitcher for a number one catcher and maybe someone else- I'm certainly not picky.

But this guy is really busting my balls and he won't listen to my offers. He just put his final offer on the table, which he considers fair- I part with Morenau and Rich Hill and he gives me John Buck, Julio freakin' Lugo and Braden Looper. Am I being unfair, or does this guy want to piss me off?
I think that is a pretty stupid trade for you to take.

Regardless of how fair it is, it doesn't address your need!

You need a catcher... he is offering you SBs at MI and a SP for a better SP and a HR hitter.

If SBs were important to you (and hard to come by in your league), and you thought Looper would play around Hill's level the rest of the way, it might be an ok trade... but what you really want is a catcher, and John Buck does not make that a worthwhile trade to you in my opinion.

What catcher do you currently have, and who are the top few catchers on the free agent market?
I'm stuck with Michael Barrett, and it's a thin catcher contingent on the waiver wire. I need this help ASAP. I also need an outfielder and a closer. My starters are pretty good, so I figure I can package one with Morneau for a quality closer, but no one's biting, because it's one of those Yahoo public leagues loaded with first timers.
So I take it that Doumit and Ruiz are not available? They are guys that might slip through the cracks of a public league and would likely be more useful than Barrett in his current form... especially if AVG is a weakspot for you.

Who is your worst OF right now? There are usually decent OFs available on the waiver wire. Hunter Pence was recently called up and has promise. I don't know if you are in a deep or shallow league, though. If everyone has superstars, Pence probably isn't that great, but he might be worth a look depending on who he'd be replacing.
I just dealt CC Sabathia and Morneau for Akinori Otsuka and Victor Martinez, which suits me just fine. My outfield is struggling with Rocco Baldelli, Jason Bay and Chris Duffy, and one or two of them should be benched (tis a slim bench). And I don't know if I can trust my closer situation with Jason Isringhausen, Matt Capps and Henry Owens- in the long term, this trio might be satisfactory, but we'll see. I also have BJ Ryan on the DL- does anyone know if he'll be good to go by late June?

This is a messy team. I've got Pujols at 1B, but everything else is a mess. Eric Chavez has been awful and I'm waiting on Rafael Furcal. At least the pitching staff has depth, with Rich Hill, Gil Meche, Randy Johnson, Felix Hernandez, Brandon Webb and Mark Buerhle.

Well, good game fellas. I won League #3 with a grand total of 90.5 points. How did the others shake out?
