My enthusiasm for Zodiac just plummeted. Who the hell though CGI Bacher would be a good idea?

David Fincher? Really?

Really?

Well it did scar me, so I guess it is David. I also find it weird how it's a commercial in a commercial with Redenbacher commenting on how light his iPod is. What an age we live in.

I can't believe Fincher directed that creepy piece of shit.
Well that was disturbing.

That commercial ran during the Golden Globes and a couple of us commented then how creepy it was - still is - will always be.

How can this type of thing be legal? I find it horrible that after your death you can still be used to push products.

What really freaks me out is the little head bob dance he does at the end when he says his name.

I liked the ad.

Zombie Colonel Sanders agrees.

Yes, that commercial was several flavors of wrong. It was like they dug up Orvil and ran enough juice through his body to make him jerk around like a spastic marionette.

For some reason I get the chills when he grabs that whole bag of popcorn from the microwave with one dead spotted hand.

Terrifuckingfying.

I imagine their estate would have to approve, and likely did at the prospect of fat stacks of money.

I think he's bobbing to the iPod music in the end. Or maybe the invisible puppet strings are crappy.
That was disturbing, no one seems to notice that they're taking popcorn that was made BY A DEAD MAN!

Still, my estate or succession should not have the rights of my person.

I doubt they had to ask permission with this ad, he's already part of the branding for the popcorn so this is an (un)natural extension of that. His image and name are the equivalent of a brand mascot, so I don't think they have to legally ask for permission. Now morally ...

It's horrible too, you can tell the whole body is a real person with a fake CGI mask, sort of like Dooku, but this looks much more horrible. The face looks less than the real Orville but more like the revamped "logo" for the popcorn, which doesn't look realistic at all.

I think Joel McHale on the Soup said it best: "'Or my name isn't Orville Redenbacher'? You name ISN'T Orville Redenbacher!"

Oh, thank god. I thought I was the only person freaked out by the Reddenbacher dopelganger.

When I first saw the commercial, I wanted to hide under my bed.

And then I realized that that was where he'd be hiding... with a piping hot bag of buttery popcorn and a thirst for brains. Ugh.

(and I thought the Burger King was terrifying)
