The Greatest Comic of the Past 20 Years

Everybody seems to be let down with the current state of comics in some way or another, so I think I've found a single issue we can all agree is completely fuckin' awesome...

MARVEL ADVENTURES: AVENGERS #9!!!

THE ISSUE IN WHICH ALL THE AVENGERS BECOME MODOCS*!!!

Sure, it's a kids' oriented book, but it actually solves all the problems most people cite with mainstream comics. It's a tight, single issue story that's fun and about as far from continuity as possible! Good stuff!

Pick it up, damn it!

Now!

*'Cause it's a kids' book, they can't have him be 'Mental Organism Designed Only For Killing', so they changed him to 'Designed Only For Conquest'.

I was going to say Bloom County.

I thought this was about Nextwave.

And I thought he was talking about THIS.

If we're talking comic strips though, in all seriousness... Calvin and Hobbes. I'm not even sure if that can be argued.

Aw. I thought it was gonna be those Teen Titans say no to drugs comics.
I thought it was going to be about Mitch Hedberg.

In the comics and anime forum?

And the title is clearly a hyperbole if you'd read the actual post.

Excuse me while I fall on my sword in a desperate attempt to redeem myself in the eyes of the guy with the Ronald McDonald-rape avatar.

Excuse me, but there's no rape involved. He's clearly holding a knife and is about to kill Birdy. What he does with the corpse after is his own business, and you chose to think of rape.

In short, you're a sicko.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought so.

Blame your association with the guy who has the avatar depicting the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ripping off April O'Neil's clothes.

I swear, I can hear fabfunk's panting when I open this thread.

Is that your site? I'm glad I've found another fan. Do you know if the rest of this series is any good? I may have to start picking it up.

I think I'll blame your inability to cope with the absurd.

I'm hurt that you didn't refer to me by name.

My apologies, sir. I wish you and Mrs. Rumteldat nothing but the best. I didn't mean to imply that I didn't appreciate Teenage Mutant Ninja Rape or necrophilia in McDonaldland. Both are magical in their own way. The instigating post was just a roundabout way of saying "lighten up".

Did you guys catch that? He referred to him as MRS. Rumteldat. Hilarious. With a dry-cool wit like that, he has a chance in the television writing industry. I hear King of Queens is hiring.

Okay, I thought we were just exchanging good-natured bullshit this whole time. But the King of Queens? That...that's just mean.
Yeah that King of Queens joke was out of line.Next thing you know your going to accuse him of liking Everybody loves Raymond and then your in jail.

Hehehehe you're all right. I take it back. You might have a better shot on Just Shoot Me.

I kid, I kid.

Can't speak for The Avengers, but the Spider-Man and Fantastic Four series are good. But then, I pick them up for my 7 year old and read them through her eyes. Your results may vary.
But that MODOC issue is some quality shit for ALL ages.

Well now I may just have to start picking all of these up. Thanks for the heads-up.

I suppose the "Thor, Frog of Thunder" ish goes back too far to qualify for this one?

I don't know about that, but if it does, that's a damn shame.
What do you call a 6'6" fighting mad frog?

SIR!

Loved that cover like you wouldn't believe. Strange story, but not a bad one. And actually it was kinda cool to get into the trickery with Loki. It just felt right......

Thor 366 had the thor frog lift Mjolnir and gain the powers. Entirely too tripped out and funny to ever forget.
