Legit, according to the head guy at 3D Realms.

Hopefully they'll release a larger version.

This game has renewed my faith in the goodness of euthanasia.

Try Quietus, I hear it's quite peaceful. And it comes with a CD of relaxing death music!

And I've long given up on this game. There's just no way it can compete with today's FP/over the shoulder shooters.

Am I the only one that felt that Duke Nukem was a sprite-based shithole of a game that needs to rightfully die in the 90s?
Bullshot. Or pre-rendered cutscene.

This game will never be released anyway so I guess it doesn't matter. Also, I agree with FRS.

Duke Nukem 3D is one of the very best FPSs ever. DNF won't live up to it, but I hope it'll be good.

If by best, you mean top 100, I agree.

Top 5, easily.

I liked Duke, especially in multiplayer: some of the weapons were hliarious.

Made a few maps for it too, including a deathmatch level in a large movie studio: there was even a fake mockup of the Titanic floating in a large tank that you could swim under and jump onto the deck.

It's kind of amazing Bruce Campbell or Sam Raimi never sued them, really. And yes, it was an ugly sprite-based POS of an FPS. The level editor was fun though.
The level editor was the only thing that gave that game serious legs. I had more fun making my own levels than I had playing the game. In fact, I don't recall actually finishing the game.

I can't believe someone is still trying to finish Duke Nukem Forever. The boat has sailed, people. Shitcan it.
the game was fun, and added some much needed personality to a legit shooter, but it definitely isn't near the top of the heap when it comes to all time FPS's.
Besides, Serious Sam was a better Duke Nukem sequel anyway.

I used to say the same about Prey..

...and Max Payne...

the unreal and quake games alone make that statement ridiculous.

I don't see how people can be fans of Evil Dead/Army of Darkness AND Duke Nukem. Pick a side, folks.
Duke3D was an amazing game. Its multiplayer levels were unreal. I am, quiet honestly, shocked at this being released. Probably means the game is coming out in 2007. This and the Van Halen reunion both occuring in the same week. Talk about identical 10-year waits.
Both of which will be similarly underwhelming.

The only reason Max Payne and Prey were done was because other developers made them, not 3D Realms.

3D Realms' name is on MP, but the game was 100% Remedy from start to finish.
If this game is ever released, it's guaranteed to suck.

Obviously, the game is not fun, and the constant changing of graphic engines just means they're trying to release eye candy. If they had something fun and original, they would have released it even if the graphics weren't the best in the industry.

BTW, arguing if that's an in game screenshot is absurd! There is no game as far as anybody knows, forget about arguing wrt the graphics.

Assuming that the game will be released, it also absurd, considering the amount of years it's been in development. Goodness gracious people, it takes less time and effort to build an operating system from scratch, and air traffic control system and an energy management system than this game.

I always wondered what the deal was with that as well. Duke Nukem did have a better line-reading of the "Kick ass and chew bubblegum" line from They Live than Roddy Piper did though.

Nukem sucks now, but when it came out it was pretty awesome. It had personality(mostly ripped off), tons of interactivity, and fun weapons and items(shrink ray, remote mines, and jet pack, yay!). Still though, the stage layouts(even then), weren't too well thought-out.
At least DOOM, once you get past the dated graphics and sound, can still be really fun and intense. Duke Nukem hasn't held up.

I think Duke 3D has much better level design, weapons and atmosphere than Quake and I'll take its 2.5D with colors over early 3D with 5 shades of brown any day. I also preferred its MP to that of Quake and Quake 2, although it didn't have the mod community as those games for good reasons got. The singleplayer in the Quake series has always been crap and Unreal felt so bland I couldn't finish it. Half-Life and Half-Life 2 obviously had much better SP but their MP was boring without mods.

I liked Duke Nukem when it was 2D.

Duke Nukem 3D was fun, but I wouldn't call it one of the best ever. However, this game is never coming out. That being said, why does Duke look like the bastard child of Schwarzenegger and Mike Nelson?
