So...this DC comics teaser thing.

When I saw this image all I could think of was the Ouroboros, if you catch my meaning.

What I don't get is how folks at DC can't seem to agree on whether it's a teaser for Countdown or for the World War III event at the end of 52.

It seems logical that it's World War III.

Also, why did a month or so in the desert turn Batman into Ali-Baba?

Except that Superman didn't have his powers during 52*. Though the whole WWIII thing is going to be pretty stupid, as OYL started the week after 52 ended and it took until JSA #1 for anyone to mention such an event happening.

Not to be a wet blanket, but fuck these characters.

Fine by me, this stuff is a yawn.

DC is in a never-ending EVENT loop.
After the mess that was Infinite Crisis, I just don't care anymore.
I'd take Infinite Crisis, OYL, 52 and the shittier episodes of Hardcastle & McCormack over the general shitstorm that is Civil War.
Can't comment on 52 or OYL, I lost interest right after Inf. Crisis.

How can anybody really say Inf. Crisis was anything but a disaster? Sure Civil War is far from perfect (and unnecessarily long), but at least it's not a mess of literally cosmic proportions.

Sure, things like Capt. Marvel coming back from another timeline are idiotic, but nothing can compare to Robin coming back to life due to Superwhiner hitting a "reality" wall. C'mon.

And what were the consequences of that series?

I wouldn't say that. Unless you count 52* as a year long event, there hasn't been an event since Infinite Crisis. Though at that time they made some claim about stopping with the events for the forseable future, but I guess the future just meant "until sales go down enough to warrant us doing another event." They're no worse than Marvel though. Marvel is actually way worse. I mean they had Civil War, Annihilation, Planet Hulk, and some other events I can't recall going on at the same time.

In that first pic, Black Canary looks like she's packin' a rod. I didn't know GA swung that way.

We still have superheroes?

You didn't know a guy who runs around rooftops in green tights and has a sidekick named Speedy swung that way? How naive.

Does anyone else look at that image and want Supes to just jump up and scream: "God Damn it all to Hell!!! You blew it up!" ?
I love the head twisted around. Just because.
The biggest mystery to me is how Green Arrow is standing on that statue. It threatens to blow my mind.

Would Superman misquote a movie?
He probably doesn't have much time to watch movies, so yeah, I think he would.

Umm... Superman could watch like every movie ever made in like one day. And if he just stuck to the good ones, I'm sure he'd be able to watch Planet of the Apes.

I almost can't believe I'm actually going to dignify this with a response, but even with all he can do, Supes can't stop time. Sure, he can move faster than a speeding bullet, but how does that help him watch a movie any faster?

He could take a print of a film and flip through it at the speed of light. Sound might be a problem, though.

Same way he reads a book in a fraction of a second.

I just like seeing Kyle and Donna together, makes me a tad bit happy. I also dig Red Robin myself.

You're so right. The smug movie misquote line irked me a bit. You knew WTF I was talking about didn't you? It never ceases to amaze me how much energy goes into trying to be the most knowledgable geek ON A COMIC BOOK INTERNET MESSAGE BOARD. I'm genuinely surprised he didn't say: "Worst. . .post. . . ever." Can't we all just get along and have some laughs? Why are so many anuses so tight around here that not even light can escape their gravitational pull?

And I agree, sound WOULD be a problem if Superman watched the movie frames himself at super speed. Whaddaya say to that, smart guy?

Superman can read lips at superspeed.

Awesome

True. And he could speed up the sound to the same rate, and while to you and me it would sound like *squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaakkkkkkkk kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk* his superhearing could make it out.

To the other guy:
Next time just get the quote right, jackass.

What got Batman wearing such heavily armed bedtime gear? Did it happen during continuity?

According to Dan Didio, some of the attire in this picture is only symbolic and none of the heroes shown are from other universes. So, while Donna is back in her Wonder Girl outfit, Red Robin from Kingdom Come appears, and that Flash looks a whole lot like Barry, those things are all "symbolic". I guess time will only tell what he means by that. While that Batman looks like he could be the one who returns from his sabBATical at the end of 52, I don't believe whatever this turns out to be for (some say it has to do with COUNTDOWN, their rumored next weekly series which will lead up to a big event with the New Gods) will take place right after 52, as that would be months ago in the DCU.

Mmm. It's actually an alright idea. But I could still go for a Batman vs sleep apnea arc.

Dan Didio needs to be gelded.
