The Good, The Bad And The Queen

Has anyone heard of this? It's a supergroup that consists of:

Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz)
Paul Simonon (The Clash)
Simon Tong (The Verve)
Tony Allen (Africa 70)

Plus, it's produced by Danger Mouse.

I was wondering if anyone picked this up and how it was. Simonon's invlovement piqued my interest in this.

iTunes has their song "Herculean" available as a free download this week. Can't say I'm the biggest fan of it, but maybe it isn't indicative of the entire album.

It's very British. There are a lot of references in here, from rock to dub, and even some reggae. It's a good listen, and probably something that gets better the more you listen to it, but I've quickly moved on to other things (Arcade Fire, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, The Shins). I'll probably come back to it later in the year, when the release calendar gets quiet again.

Its amazing, got it yesterday and was really blown away by it, not at all what I was expecting.

Awful. I wanted to love this as I'm a huge Blur fan (pretty much a fan of any project Damon's apart of), but, wow, talk about missed oppurtunity. Not one track stands out, they all sound the same! The entire album moves at a slug's pace, the songwriting is generic and the imagery (even for Albarn) is so heavy-handed. What a let down.

Are you sure?

Really?

Man, I would wait a few days and throw it back on. Everyone I have played this for has really dug it. Maybe it just hit you wrong? (maybe not, but you know what Im saying...)

Did get my tickets to see them at the 9:30 in DC.
