Attention fans of Lovecraft

Thread Starter

I've done a weeklong post on illustrations related to H.P Lovecraft. I'm sure fans here of his stories will enjoy all the weird imagery.

Check it out

Wanted to start up a Lovecraft Adaptation thread in CC forum (much like the CHUD one here) since I've been on a kick lately... So instead, I just decided to avoid clutter and post in this one (generic enough thread title).

Recently watched Die Monster Die!, Dunwich Horror, Resurrected, Beyond the Wall of Sleep...

I also checked out LovecraCked! The Movie this weekend (review coming soon) which is a collection of Lovecraft inspired short-films of various quality.

I still want to see the Call of Cthulhu DVD (Silent flick) based on the reccomendatios I've seen here. Also, I've stumbled upon this site (Lurker Films?) with some interesting looking adaptations available on dvd. Anyone heard of these?

I'm not real experienced with HPL's writings (will remedy that soon), but I'm noticing a trend of similarly thematic elements in the stuff seen so far (I also own & enjoy Dagon, Re-Animator & Bride of, Haunted Palace w/Vincent Price)...
- Horrific experiments
- Family curses (and cross-generational obsessions)
- Madness, dreams, "reality"
- Evil/powerful beings from another dimension and the cults who worship them

I also found a bunch of HPL radio adaptations that I can't wait to sink my teeth into.

What can I say? HPL is my new horror obsession... Hopefully it won't... drive me to madness!

*EDIT: I need this T-Shirt.
**EDIT #2: Call of Cthulhu DVD is now on order!

A guy I work withwho's almost as obsessed with this stuf as I am got me a pen from a convention somewhere that says "Miskatonic University" on it. people keep asking me: "Nice pen. Who goes to that school?" I tell them briefly that it's a fictional school written about by one of my favorite authors. I should just say: "Oh, my friend Randolph Carter."

The silent 'Call of Cthulhu' is great...it's amazing how a group of dedicated amateurs managed to produce this and still evoke what multiple Hollywood versions are always missing...slowly building dread; (the 'making of' is a real 'eye-opener').
Superb stuff.
I also own the first Lovecraft Collection 'Cool Air'...bit more of a mixed bag, but I've only viewed in once in less than ideal circumstances; though, I do remember wanting to buy the other two (Think there may be more now)...

Right, I'm off to dig this out and give it another spin!

TRUDAT! Amazing= just watched it last night (ordered it on Monday! Fast!). Wanted a commentary as well, but it's a dang fine dvd and an awesome production. I love it's presentation and overall package.

I've been raving about this film for quite some months on here- has been a favourite since I saw it.
Of course, my avatar might give that away.
