This might actually be worth my 0ยข.

I'm not sure if it was because I was at work, but this was entertaining. Horribly acted, a horrible script, and Eric Roberts as a kungfu master (with special plot device) but it entertained me. I probably would have never paid money to see this, so hooray for google video. I probably would have loved this if I would have seen it when I was 13-14 though. Lots of hot girls, karate and a techno soundtrack. I wish I could go back in time and kick my ass now that I think about it.

You know this really wasn't that bad.
It really was entertaining, in a gleefully stupid sort of way. Easily the most faithful video game movie yet made. Everyone was obviously having fun.

But I could be saying this because I watched The Marine last night, which I hoped would be more like DOA is.

I feel a bit better about enjoying this movie now.
Man, why can't all horrible, stupid movies be that much fun? And free?

Someone explain the economics of this to me.

I'm sad that Liu Kang from Mortal Kombat is an unnamed 'pirate leader' in this movie. However, I liked the sliding puzzle that a five year old could solve that was used to seal the outer vault door.

needed more Sarah Carter in hotpants.

That's what I was wondering.

I love how there's apparently a computer program on the Evil Computer that alerts the CIA at the touch of a button. And then flashes the words "CIA ALERTED".

Also, the villain's big, apocalyptic plan is...copyright infringement? Isn't that highly ironic?

If I had to guess, I'd say that Google is paying them handsomely to broadcast this movie as a way of drawing people's attention to Google Video, which I assume they're setting up as a competitor to YouTube.

There's no economics behind this. It's a pirated film. The same guy has also uploaded Over the Hedge, Employee of the Month, Little Man and Rob-B-Hood. It's funny reading Nick's Steady Leak against cracking the BluRay encryption and then seeing a link on the front page to an illegal film, which is made possible by cracking the encryption on the dvd.

I liked how he put nano bots inside the fighters to read their moves (and provide Life Bars for their screens!) yet, (SPOILER!) instead of downloading the stuff to his brain for Neo-like instant Kung-fu, it makes his sunglasses predict the future of the locked-up brother! An awesome defiance of logic that I've not seen in films for a long time.

That was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I loved it! I felt like I was thirteen again and watching the Ninja movies with Sho Kosugi.
It was mildly entertaining for the first 30 minutes, but it gave me a massive headache as it went on.

But jeez, they even included the TARGET AUDIENCE as one of the characters!
I watched half of this movie yesterday at work.. and might watch the rest today. It falls somewhere between Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat but is leaning on Charlie's Angels cheese.

If that's the truth this sucker is coming down.

Well, Google video, youtube and all it's numerous clones are full of brand new full length movies. Besides, I'm sure it would've been pretty big news if the producers of DOA had decided to release their film for free. I'm sure we would've heard about it before.

I don't know whether I feel more guilty about the fact that I watched a pirated movie, the fact that it was *this* pirated movie, or the fact that I kinda dug it, but I know I feel guilty, and later I am going to lash myself bloody like that albino in The DaVinci Code for all of the above.

Seconded. I feel so dirty now that I must be punished. Preferably by Sarah Carter.

Maybe it's the insomnia.
Maybe it's the workday boredom.
Maybe it's Jamie Presley's considerable assets.
But damn if that movie didn't entertain me.

Actually, it was probably Eric Robert's lush mane of hair.

The tits aren't big enough.
The movie is such cheese that it's entertaining. The chicks are hot and the movie understands its core audience I think, if there is one. Glad I didn't pay for it. The movie seems to be offline now.
"This movie is not currently available. Try again later." I guess it was taken down.
Was there ever an explanation of where the DOA invitations came from? Or are we just supposed to assume that some sort of satellite was monitoring all badass activity on Earth, and then shot them down to the chosen ones (with pinpoint accuracy) from space?

Which is obviously a perfectly reasonable assumption. I'm just asking.

Also, what exactly was Eric Roberts plan? To provide arms dealers with the technology to outfit private armies of sunglassed killing machines? I have to admit, that's a pretty good plan. And he had been waiting a YEAR for it!
For the record, I think this was slightly better than Mortal Kombat. Just slightly.

Why is there a Google Video anyway? Google bought YouTube, I assumed, so it could become Google Video. It's not like YouTube had some spectacular tech they needed to make it work. It's just Flash.

It's a moot point now anyway I guess if some random fuckface uploaded it, and not Google.

Did this even come out in theaters yet? Why was there a DVD(of a finished film) to rip?

The DVD is out in Europe. DVD rips are also often released way before they actually hit the stores.

This is true. My sister had a DVD ripped copy of The Descent months before the flick had hit store shelves. I was actually pretty shocked that rather than a reel rip or theatre-filmed copy the thing had full-fledged menu screens, options, and special features. Those pirates are a crafty bunch.
