I guess this'll get a whole lot more coverage than Henenlotter's return.

Not on this site, if I have anything to do with it!

I am curious if it's going to get the same controversy as the original, though.

In this day and age, it's hard to imagine how a horror flick can be transgressive in a the way that the original was. Look at the remake of TCM - it doesn't have half the grit of the original, it's just a buch of pretty boys and girls getting chased by a big bad monster. I imagine this remake'll be the same. Expect to hear casting of some lissom teen flavour of the month any time now. I'm bored with this shit.

As it will undoubtedly comply with the current standards in animal (and human for that matter) cruelty, what can a remake possibly bring to the table, save if it goes for an NC-17 straight out of the gate gore fest of unimagined proportions?

Regardless, I remain confused that Hollywood is apparently completely bereft of new ideas.

there's that new Hensleigh movie too, no?

perhaps cannibal gutmuncher remake fever will turn out to be this year's J-horror remake fever. In which case I can't wait to see the new versions of Cannibal Ferox, Eaten Alive, Mountain of the Cannibal God, etcetc and all the CGI dick slicing, tits-through-a-meathook, and boar fucking that these imply (actually the boar fucking is the only thing that might look LESS fake when it's computer generated)

I guess the well in hollywood has completely run dry.

Maybe I should start working on my Dawn of The Dead remake, remake now.

Just curious; this flick sounds a bit like a flick I saw on video in the 80's called "Make Them Die Slowly", that was also supposedly banned in many countries. This wasn't the same film w/ a badly translated cover or something, was it? I do remeber it containing, among other things, a dick slicing and meathooks thru someone's tits. Just curious if anyone knows if these are, indeed, the same flick.

That is the case indeed, to my knowledge. I would look it up too, but I'm too lazy.

Nope- that's Lenzi's Cannibal Ferox. Like Devin said in a recent article, all of those Italian cannibal movies run together. I remember Ferox not being as good as Holocaust, although there were some really brutal scenes in it. I think it's the one that has the turtle being ripped open.

This is purely subjective, but: Cannibal Holocaust = Disturbing Cannibal Ferox = Hilarious

I agree it was hilarious at points, but a dick chopping is ALWAYS disturbing.

Is that so? Thanks for the correction. I haven't seen either in a long time. It's impossible to find reliably such movies in Greece. You have no idea how good you guys have it. I would kill to have Netflix available here.

Well, not kill but I would definitely slice someone's dick off.
