I don't really get it unless it's a film about being black. I understand a film like Badasssss getting consideration, but isn't Do the Right Thing about all races? I guess you could put Do the Right Thing on a top Italian-American films.

The role of the Italian and Korean small business owners in that film are to show the economic disenfranchisement that blacks felt (or still feel), having non-blacks making money off their community but effectively bringing nothing into it. Lee recognizes that they aren't truly the problem, their just people making a living like everyone else, but nevertheless their presence exacerbates said problem.
