Atheists still winning popularity contests

Link with CNN vids & transcript.

The discussion panel is the real gem. I'd say there's some kind of irony that both a black woman and a Jewish woman can't muster up any sympathy after watching the previous segment. But, hey, this is a Christian nation and atheists need to shut up.

"Militant Atheism"? That's such a huge contridiction.

And this stuff about "freedom of religion doesn't mean freedom from religion" is such bullshit.

Hmm... what happened during World War II to the Jews? I guess that wasn't important. Looks like Mel Gibson was right all long. So it's not ok for Jews to be persecuted but it's ok to persecute Atheists? And how, exactly, are Atheists "ruining" society when you have countless Priests abusing young boys and girl sexually and Priests speaking out against homosexuality when they themselves are gay?

That black guy was rocking it though when he disagreed with that black sista about telling Atheist to "shut up and get Hallmark card so they don't feel left out". And that girl was talking about don't impose on her right to pray in schools and saying "one nation under God"? Isn't it imposing on Atheists to expect them to pray to something they don't believe in? Where's the difference? Those two girls are messed up.

Versions of the Pledge:

1892:
"I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands: one Nation indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all."
1892 to 1923:
"I pledge allegiance to my Flag and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all."
1923 to 1954:
"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all."
1954 to Present:
"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all."

The phrase "under God" was basically added, after centuries of effort, at the behest of religious zealots. How it has passed Constitutional muster for over 50 years is beyond me.

According to the fantastic radio show 'This American Life,' 'Under God' was added to the pledge as a cold-war era reaction to atheistic communism.

If anyone is interested in a brief-yet-compelling history of the rise of American zealotry, then the broadcast is a must-listen. http://www.thislife.org

It's episode 290 in the 2005 archive.

I think all this hatred comes from the fact that athiests can ejaculate twice as much semen as people of faith. That's a fact, look it up.

Steve Smith, the ESPN guy, was holding it down. Never knew he had it in him. I think we as a people need to get past the whole " religion " thing and focus to work towards something that will bring us all together instead of deviding us.......Like virtual reality porn !!!!!!
