Your favorite?

I voted for #3. Never mind that it was made for television in the 70's, it beats the tar out of the original Polanski piece of shit!

The Zapruder Film.

Did you just call Rosemary's Baby a piece of shit?

I honestly can't tell if this is one level lower or three levels higher than BobClark's statement.

I was not joining in any Rosemary's Baby hating, no. I am honestly surprised that someone would knock that flick.

To be fair, it is a scary movie.

I think Bob is partially joking, but in reality, he's not far off. "Rosemary's Baby" is horror for people who don't watch horror. It's all about suspense and dread, but the creepiness factor is knocked down heavily by wide eyed Farrow's over acting, and the fact that none of her neighbors are particularly creepy themselves. Ruth Gordon scared me far more by being nude in bed with Bud Cort in "Harold and Maude" then she ever did in this film.

Oh good lord. I love Rosemary's Baby. I was just pointing out that Spike/anyname listed it's sequel as a choice.

I, however, wasn't joking. I still stand by my opinion that it's horror for non-horror fans.

Let's not forget that the original Haunting came out in the 60s. That movie is hold-your-breath creepy.

Speaking of that shitty sequel, has anyone read Son of Rosemary? I still find it weird that Ira Levin would write a sequel 3 decades later.

That's just crazy talk. It's totally horror. It's plot is based on the supernatural and it exploits modern social fears. And it's got Charles Grodin. CHARLES GRODIN!

I voted for the Nicole Kidman one. But I'm pretty sure it's from a later decade and that the title is plural...

The sequel was from the 70's, so it don't count.

Charles Grodin's scariest film is that abortion "Clifford" where Martin Short plays the creepiest ten year old cinema has ever seen. Now that was scary.

Hey sorry about that! I meant Rosemary's Baby.

List lacks Repulsion (better than Rosemary's Baby, in my book), The Haunting, The Birds, or Carnival of Souls. Possibly even Onibaba (which I haven't seen yet, but based purely on what I've heard of it...)
Carnival of Souls would get my vote, anyway.
