I'm way too excited for Viruta Tennis 3. Virtua Tennis was worth the price of a Dreamcast alone, (though I never bought one, but if I had I would have made a sound investment, due to the above-mentioned Virtua Tennis).

I did enjoy TMNT for 360 as well. It may have to wait, (my list is slowly expanding), but it will be part of the collection sooner than later.

CASTLEVANIA will be mine. I played that game for hours. Can't wait till Wednesday.

I'm not a huge DMC fan, but it's nice to see anything coming over to the 360. Now if people would just start buying HD-DVDs...

Anybody heard anything about the software update that was supposed to make our now-outdated 360s run quieter?
I've been wondering the same thing. I keep hearing about it, maybe someday.

Honestly, I'm not all that upset about a new version of the 360 coming out so shortly after I got mine (Xmas time). At this time, and with the amount I play the 360, I doubt I'll come close to filling up my current HD, let alone 120GB. I could care less about the color and the HDMI (it would be nice, but my HD looks great right now so F it), but... I do wish I had the new chipset.

Oh well, I'm not going to be one of those panty wastes who complains and attempts to sue Microsoft or some crap like that.

I'm glad I waited to buy a 360. Sexy black next gen will be mine in April.

A couple of game confirmations to round out the round up: Sega's NiGHTS, a cult hit on the Saturn, will receive a sequel on the Wii. The developers are keen to emphasize that this won't be a port, to which we can all say, "Why the fuck would you make it a port?"
The original article used that comment to debunk the fact that it's not just bringing the original to the Virtual Console.

Frankly, though, I hope they pull a Panzer Dragoon Orta and include the original anyway. I didn't get to spend nearly enough time with that game when it came out.
Yeah, I'm gonna want that 120gb hard drive. If they come up with a way to transfer files easily I'm okay with an upgrade.

Yeah, that's what I gathered.

I'm at work, but has anybody grabbed Symphony of the Night, yet?

Great work Ian!

About the 1up story, now while the meaning of the comments about the
American gamer were lost in translation (though still dumb), at what point does Sony just shut up? Shouldn't Sony be focused on things like promoting the fact that its machine is more powerful and much less fragile than the 360? Instead, of taking dumps on the Wii, the America consumer and anyone who criticizes them, wouldn't Sony be wise to just close its big dumb mouth, and promote the hell out of its very expensive product. Maybe then Sony could focus on the loss of its exclusive titles rather than defending its latest gaffe, which was in response to a previous gaffe.

At some point people will come around to the PS3 ($100 price decrease), but the fact is that Sony could be winning this thing if they weren't such morons about it. They have a powerful machine that appears to have worked the kinks out and offers something to gamers the Wii and 360 don't. Instead of working on that, Sony has to focus its PR machine on picking up the elephant shit it leaves behind after every single interview. Its just madness.
I really don't get why Sony's gets so defensive. They've produced a quality machine that will provide thousands of hours of entertainment over the course of its life. Sure, they could be defensive because we all love to attack them, but somebody's got to be the bigger man. And it sure ain't gonna be me, because I have no dignity.

So- how are those Sam and Max games? I'm thinking of trying one of them free Gametap trials to be able to play them, cause I love those bastards.

I always find those gun trading-in programs strange. You'd be able to get a lot more games or toys if you just sold the gun illegally, so there's not really much of an incentive to trade it in.
I'm guessing that's why there were only seventeen takers on the program. I'm sure there are a few more guns than that. In order to truly provide an economic incentive, you'd have to offer compensation of greater value than the gun. I don't see that happening in Mexico City.

The Sam and Max games make me giggle. It's not the same humor as in Hit the Road, but each one is sufficiently twisted enough (and contains enough incidental humor) to supply an entertaining couple of hours.

Agreed with the above.

Also I took my PSP out of the mothballs this weekend. For a multimedia device, especially because I only have an iPod mini. As a game machine, its pretty good, but with some up-coming titles I'm pretty excited.

Thanks, Boomstick!

I'm getting really fond of the various puzzle games available on my PSP. Between the Marvel Trading Card Game and Puzzle Quest, I'm never at a loss for some quick tactical thinking.

Also, godfuckingdamnit, fixed today's roundup to remove a damn prank.
Puzzle Quest is brilliance... even though the AI always seems to get the 4's and skulls handed to them.
Yeah, I'm convinced the AI cheats. Funny how they can chain up all those four gem combos just by dint of what falls from off the screen.

Here's today's MCP: http://chud.com/mastercontrol/9591

I'm honestly curious about what people think about the second item. Is it justifiable to ban ads for M-rated games, but allow ads for M-rated TV shows?
There is a distinction, the Sopranos is art, while Video games are not.

Kidding aside, there is no real distinction, its just that Video Games are classically much like cartoons were (and still are) classified as geared toward children. The result being the "dirty" video game being advertised is being geared toward children and the Sopranos is gear towards adults.

Now the only defense (if there is one) is that parents, like the one I met in Gamestop last week, less of a clue what's going on in their children's video games than on tv. But prohibiting advertising in general is, of course, Lowest Common Denominator problem solving.

I'm curious, what is it exactly that the PS3 offers gamers that 360 and Wii don't?

Surely that's not a reference to the Blu-Ray disc player, which gamers don't necessarily need and didn't necessarily want, particularly when it comes attached to a $600 price tag.

Because aside from that, I see very little in PS3 that differs from its' competitors, particularly the 360. All this talk of it being the "most powerful" system is overblown as well. Technically true in some regards, but not so true in others.

Bear in mind, I've seen the PS3 to be an adequate gaming system, and by most indications it's a quality product. There just doesn't seem to be enough that's "special" about it to justify the $600 price tag.

So... The new PSP ads make me sick to my stomach. Today's: http://chud.com/mastercontrol/9619

I guess Sony is incapable of showing us why their products are superior either.

Some people over there need to be fired, immediately.

Great articles, guys. I really don't get what's going on with Sony, either. The system is decent, but really, we all know the price point doomed it from day one. When it drops, who knows... maybe it'll pick up.
Glass Joe. That's great.

Has Sony always been this arrogant and stupid? I don't remember being so insulted by them when the PS2 hoopla was in full swing. They're just terrible now.

This Action Button site appears excellent.
I already know Tim Rogers, who writes for it, to be a fascinating writer.
That Action Button site is a hate crime against the english language. Did videogames really need their own version of Mr. Cranky (although to Mr. Cranky's credit, he tends to GET TO THE FUCKING POINT, something Action Button seems to not only be unable to do but doesn't seem to want to at all)?

If I want to read videogame ignorance and trolling, I'll go to /v/ at 4chan. At least there, the stupidity stays under 500 words.
While I don't like Twilight Princess as much as the other Zelda games I think the Action Button's review is just awful. Abrasive and attention seeking at times, the entire review seems hinged on a bizarre esoteric complaint which could be lodged at all videogames.

What, the complaint that there's nothing to distinguish it from earlier Zeldas?

The entire, "what's the point of carrying a jug around when I could have carried it myself across a real street" thing

I can't speak for the Wii, but as someone who absolutely loves their 360, the fact that PS3's don't break down all the fucking time is starting to look really appealing. I just got a 3rd 360 from MS in just over a year, this is insane. You would think that after a year they would have the bugs worked out (for the most part) but these things break down almost as much now as they did on launch day. With a $100 price drop for PS3 I could sell my 360, HD-DVD player, games, movies and extra crap and start over with a reliable system and a couple of games (and a BluRay player to make up for my lost HD-DVD). I don't want to, I'm really not that interested in what the PS3 has to offer at this point, but I'm just sick of never knowing if my system is going to work.
