It seems I'm the kind of person this feature will be used on...

Funny thing is, I checked three times to be sure it was black and not back.

I don't get it. It's already pretty easy to mute obnoxious players, so I'm not sure what this new system is supposed to accomplish. I'd much rather see a system implemented to actually punish these little fuckers instead of just making it a tad easier to ignore them. For example, if the stats show that your teammates are regularly muting you in every single game, your rank would start to drop.

Yeah, but then that would start all kinds of muting grudge matches...that's too easy to abuse.

I can see why Msoft doesn't want to suspend/terminate accounts for obnoxious behavior: It's hard to police, would require a huge admin. overhead, and takes money out of their pocket.

I don't think that dropping ranks is enough. I recommend that Microsoft start subtracting achievement points. As their e-penis shrinks, perhaps these irascible louts will learn discipline.

Couldn't you get smoked in-game while you're trying to mute some annoying douche? Or does the game pause when you're fiddling with a menu?

I thought this was actually supposed to be a great racist joke.

The feature does seem a bit "hey, isn't that cool that we called it the "a-hole" button. *snicker*" as Slater has pointed out that it's already fairly easy to mute an asshole. There needs to be something more to help it stand out and make it worth the time it took to implement it. (Perhaps that person gets some suck weapons or it reduces their fire power.)

Easy's relative. In the pregame lobby, it's fairly straightforward. When you're in the thick of matchmaking, who has time to take a minute to button through several menus just to scroll through the players list to get your guy. I've been sodomized several times in the attempt.

This new button simply eliminates pausing and all the menus. The "a-hole" button, despite Bungies "we shit it, so it's AWESOME", still takes you out of the action while your defenseless spartan/elite remains in it as you search for the loud-mouth to mute.

In the mean time, I'll just keep fighting fire with fire and perfect my explitive combination strings- which is really half the fun of Halo 2 matchmaking on Live these days anyway.

Do you think removing the rankings completely would help with some of these jackasses ? I couldn't tell you the last time I actually went into a ranked game anyway. I did notice that I run into fewer of these clowns in rb6 vegas and graw, but in Halo 2 they were in almost every game I played during that rule of 3 thing. I wonder if its related to content somehow...

there have already been almost 10 posts on a fucking MUTE button. This is nothing new. This is just a throwaway piece of non-gameplay
