The scariest movie of the 90's
Let's see...
You have, at the very least, missed Ringu, Candyman, Silence of the Lambs, and (although I personally don't rate it highly) The Sixth Sense. Also considered should be Jacob's Ladder, Cronos and Se7en. Maybe even Dust Devil and Paperhouse.
However, instead of thse classics, you have listed Mimic. This baffles me.

(My vote, incidentally, has to go to Ringu)

Wow. Your polls are always fairly fucked up, but in this case, you've actually managed to pick three of the least likely candidates for the subject. Congratulations, it's a new personal best.

At least Mimic has Jeremy Northam at his near-worst (excepting, of course, the travesty that is The Golden Bowl).

The sad thing about Mimic is that I was really digging it until the finale. It wrapped everything up far too neatly far too quickly. It just screamed "post-test-screening reshoot". I don't know that that's what happened, but it certainly felt that way.

It's like fabfunk never left.

Oh wait, he didn't.

Mimic is Guillermo. That's all I have to go on, so, yeah, Mimic.
I'm guessing Mimic, though an "other" is certainly in order.

That's exactly what happened. Del Toro's second unit got the assignment to re-shoot new scenes after a test screening, and he hates every inch of what they shot. It's why he doesn't have second units anymore (he oversees every frame shot) and also why his summation of his thoughts on the film begin and end with "Fuck Mimic."

There's a pretty great passage about MIMIC in Biskind's otherwise-quite-gossipy DOWN AND DIRTY PICTURES. The Weinsteins - more specifically, Bob - just totally fucked del Toro, and not even the intervention of Tarantino could save him.

It's like he just lists the first three movie posters he remembers seeing.

What I want to know is what happened to the 80's poll. I was looking forward to voting for "Silent Hill" and "Hostel".

Dead Heat was a lock to win that one.

I don't know why, but Fire In The Sky has to be the scariest movie I saw back in the 90's. I still can't watch it; it fucking frightens me.

candyman is up toward the tops. I was also freaked by Xtro, mainly because there's a scene where the kid walks in on his parents having sex...mommmy noooooo!!!

All the ones in my list beside Ringu, Cronos and Paperhouse are american.
Plus, there's nothing in your original post to indicate you meant anything fo the kind.

Read: "I haven't seen the others."

I suppose I should be impressed he's even seen Cronos.

Guys, you're debating with a certified retard. Just leave him to his weirdness.

He finally passed certification? Alright, Spike!

That's NOT what he said...and Paperhouse is from the late-80's.

Weird (checks). I have been misinformed somewhere.
