I love hitting the Rave, but the major downside is that a lot of cell-phone wielding teens go there. Really can't beat their digital projection though.
Wow, that must have been a bit unnerving to say the least. I typically don't see flicks on weekend evenings anyway. We go to Sunday AM. No one's there for the most part. Been there on a weekend night but I guess the gangs don't hang in Barnes and Noble too much.

Such an interesting dynamic there too - the place is nestled in between rich and ghetto. I could people watch for hours.

Been a while since I've been up to the Polaris theater.

Easton has gotten better with their security, but that event was enough to make us steer clear at certain times.

I love the weekend AM screenings. Really can't beat paying $5 and not have to deal with a huge crowd. Does suck that with more and more theaters only offering some movies in 3D that you end up getting screwed on those matinee prices.

Also, looks like I'm out of the Black Swan screening tonight. My awesome wife was able to score me tickets to the True Grit screening tonight. My boner for the Coen brothers outshines my boner for Aronofsky.

Would any of you Columbus guys be interested in getting together for a beer and talking shop?
I don't drink, but I wouldn't mind meeting some of the local Chewers....
I'd love to grab a beer and meet some of you kids! And if by talking shop you mean listening to my poor excuse for discussing movies (i.e. "I liked it." "I didn't like it.") then sure.
Hell, I'd be up for the road trip from Dayton if the meeting was in Columbus.
So, Columbus Chewers, where do you think would be a good place to meet? Should probably be relatively easy to find as well since MichaelM would be making the trek from Dayton.
Well, maybe someplace like BW3s? It's a bar/restaurant so all bases are covered for drinks and munchies - and it won't be frowned upon for camping at a table. It's not too loud or rowdy and it's a public place in case any of you are insane. I know BW3s has it's haters/lovers so a similar place would work as well.

How about The Winking Lizard at Crosswoods? I was in there the other night and it has a pretty good atmosphere for discussion. I'm free any night this week except for Thursday and Friday.
We'll probably need to push it back a week or so. I'll need a bit more advance warning for the wife and baby, but I'm pretty open most nights.

EDIT: Location sounds fine though.
Sounds good. Let's wait for the others to chime in then we can figure something out.
My schedule's pretty awful, so my chances of making it are slim. I'd like to come, but considering I already work almost an hour from home in the opposite direction of Columbus....and weeknights are simply impossible for me.

So don't plan it with me in mind. If I can make it, I will. But I don't want my frakked up calendar holding it up.
Bummer. Maybe we can make a Saturday or Sunday work, but I'd understand if you still didn't want to spend a day off driving.
I have friends in Columbus, so I could easily make it a good day there. My other challenge is that I have my daughters every other weekend.

So like I said....just plan it, and if I can come, I will. But don't cater to my goofy agenda.

Why don't we shoot for 4PM on Saturday January 15 at The Winking Lizard. Just chime in if you can make it and if it doesn't work for anyone we'll reschedule.

I have my daughters that weekend, so I'm out.

Anyone planning on attending?

Not sure whatever happened to the good Dr. V but I'm out for this weekend. I was waiting until I got our plans from the wife. But since she's getting a girls night out Friday, I'll be able to pull something together soon. For the local, local Chewers I can easily do almost any night during the week for a quick beer after my daughter goes to bed (7:30pm). So an 8pm meet up somewhere Tuesday - Thursday are good.

I too am out. Lady Vivisector has been ill, and I will be helping her get caught up on some school related stuff. But keep hope alive! I look forward to this happening sooner or later.

We'll try again here in a few weeks.

OK, so a few weeks has turned into a few months. So who wants to give it another try?

I can usually work something out for almost any weekend given plenty of notice. I know you fellas with kids have crazier schedules so I'm cool with whatever you guys can work out.

I haven't been posting much lately but I'd enjoy meeting some of you guys. I work in New Albany, so weeknights could work, and I can usually get away on a weekend evening if I don't have farm work to do. I think it's a great idea.

Hey fellow Ohio Chewers. I wanted to let everyone know of a promotion I'm heading up here where I work. I'm partnering with a local comic book store (Packrat Comics) for a "Walking Dead" Season 2 Premiere Party. I wrote up some info on it in the Shameless Links and Self Promotion thread but here's a link in case any of you locally are interested or want to help spread the word.

Let me know what you think and hope to see you there.

That's cool man. I've been in Packrat a few times despite not being a huge comic fan. Still a nice place and the employees are good people.

Happy New Year Ohio Chewers. Hope everyone had a good holiday and all, and maybe sometime this year we can all try to meet. Looking at the above history I almost shit my pants noticing it was about a year ago we tried this.

Happy new year, Ohio Jones and other Buckeye Chewers. Yeah, let's see if we can manage a get together this year.

The more advanced warning, the better, especially over the next couple of months. May will also be incredibly difficult for me - both kids have shitloads of end of the year stuff and weekends get packed very quickly.

I'm still down if this happens. Once March hits I'm going to be new poor for a few months because my wife is going to be working only part time. It could be difficult but I'd still try to be there.

Count me in as well. I'm pretty much open to any weekend given a few days notice.
