Children Of Men - 3.27.07 (U.S.)

Not even a pretty standard four month window.

Not that it matters anyway, since the film's the best thing released last year. If you didn't see this in your po-dunk town, let one say it again: see CHILDREN OF MEN. Seriously. Honestly. Don't be a jerk.

Let's hope to the higher powers that be at Universal Home Video that they'll at least include a commentary track, but knowing their penchant for skimping out on, say, everything (see: THE JERK, BIG LEBOWSKI, rinse, repeat), I'd expect a barebones trailer, featurette, and flaming pile of poo in the extras department.

Better, more fitting DVD cover than the UK.

Universal did this last year with Kong. It's like they're trying to win the race to close the release window gap ahead of anyone else.

Has Cuaron ever done a commentary track?

No, but a man can dream.

Still, I'm pretty sure like the marketing on the film and the film's awards season campaign style (i.e. non-existent), Universal is going to drop the ball with the DVD.

I saw this when I was doing The Special Edition this week. I was gonna wait until they announce the special features to mention it in the collumn.

I really hope to see a making of with emphasis on the long shot in the car and the CGI work from the flick. There is a lot of stuff online about how they did it, so I would assume it is available for the DVD.

This movie deserves a BIG special edition.

I was supposed to come out on DVD in Australia next week but they delayed it and announced a 2 disc edition and it is now to be released same time as the US.

I really can't wait to see it again, I would have gone to the cinema to see it again but I saw it at the end of it's run. I don't think I would have forgiven myself if I had missed it.

I can't wait to own it, just so I can force it into the hands of everybody I know. Like I did with Brick. It's that kind of a film.

That cover's marginally better, but that's like saying my kid's crayon drawings on the wall are better than the smeared poop on the wall from a week ago.

They should have just stuck with the fetus poster.

Ha! My po-dunk town is going to screen it during our "film festival" next week (actually just two movies that each play once, on school nights), and I'm out seventy bucks already buying other people tickets that they'll now feel too guilty to reject.

The new artwork is boring, but the foetus one reminded me of the Southland Tales teaser poster. How about Michael Caine with his finger outstretched? Tagline: "Humanity's only hope is to pull my finger."

Cuaron supervised the extras personally. Himself. So we'll get what he wants us to get.

Actually, there is a commentary track for Y Tu Mama Tambien. However, it's in spanish and since I don't speak it it's pretty much useless.
